Kinda curious as to what people here think.
Had a coworker tell me he was surprised when I mentioned that I still use a desktop PC at home. He said he thought desktops were dying out and most people didn't use them outside of work anymore. But I don't know if I agree with that...granted, I have a laptop/phone/console/etc too but I still like rocking the regular desktop. I find that desktops have less problems and are easier to upgrade/fix than laptops, not to mention cheaper.
Thoughts on this? Are desktops dying out or is that an exaggeration?
Your co-worker most likely doesn't do anything overly complex in his spare time.
He isn't editing or rendering anything, seriously gaming, making modifications or alterations to anything, programing, or basically doing anything intensive or original... otherwise he'd find that a laptop, tablet, phone, or console simply don't cut it.
Content creaters would cease to exist without PCs.
Content consumers (which most people are) can get along fine without a PC in today's world. So there is truth to what he is saying.
The reason you are using PCs at work is because PCs get work done. Him not having a PC of his own lets you know he isn't working on anything outside of devoting his life to that company. That should be his real concern.
