Our community is filled with haters who operate with a truly backwatds idea of what constitutes achievement and success.. You got 50 year old white dudes still playing in bands and trying to make it, playing venues at rundown bars and still receiving love, but black people look down on a brother in their 30s or 40s that's still chasing a rap dream. Don't know what the cause of it is, but too many of us think and act childishly well into adulthood. We don't have shyt, but we always want to turn our noses up to our own people and act brand new. :francis:

Of course. I have a lot of musician friends. I'm gonna be working on creating a platform, to help artists of all kinds, become more successful. I'd agree that the best time to be an up and coming artist, is in your 20's, but I think it's possible to do in your 30's and beyond.

In my experience it’s Usually the less talented individuals that are critical of those who attempt to improve their talents.

Something to keep in mind...

That being said, being a 30+ year old artist myself currently, I’ve never had to get the support of my “close friends”. You can find out who’s actually down for you thru attempts like these because it’s the same as starting a business or being self employed with a product. If people ain’t checking for you or don’t want to support your art, it’s a bigger sign about THEM than the artist. That’s why I’ve never been the type to ask my friends for anything related to my music; I’ll make you WANT to come see me, pay to see me. And I’ll first start by making people that DONT know me from any other Tom dikk or harry

And it works too. I’ve had people, people from all over the planet, message me telling me about the band I’m in and showing love, people I’ve never seen before will tell me the music moved them so so much and made them feel alive again. I’ve had people send me gifts, do artwork of me, people I’ve never seen or talked to but they’ve seen me and “love” what I’m about.

That’s something no 9-5 can offer you. That’s an actual talent.

I find your REAL friends will support you without hesitation no matter what you do. And I’ve never had to ask. In fact, I’m more of a person that’ll do it on their own than take help.

Now all my friends look at me and say “wow, you make a living from JUST music”? And they’re amazed that I can and do, AND I get to travel, tour and enjoy life WHILE I do my art

I’ve had “friends” ask me to get on the guest places I’ve played more than I’ve had “friends” just pay without hesitation to come see me.

That’s why I don’t bother with seeking support from people. They gonna come if you do your thing.

And, I still get paid too. That’s the funny thing about it all...

People in this country just don’t understand/respect artists. It’s just like any other business. I’m not gonna give away food from my restaurant just because we cool. AND, you shouldn’t be trying to get a free deal from me either because we’re friends.

No I really don't.....

I just believe in being honest

Because I've worked in the Music industry...

That "follow your dream" shyt can be very costly financially and time wise if you haven't created a significant buzz or become established by 28 years of age

And those people whom still wanna cheer on the 30 plus age guy are not really FRIENDS....they just love to patronize that "artist' and afraid of telling the truth in risk of offending him or her...

Their is nothing wrong with telling a grown man or woman with children to STICK TO YOUR DAY JOB or FIND SOMETHING ELSE YOUR GOOD AT....

As BIG said.....

Don't be mad UPS is hiring....

I am all for someone pursuing their artistic dreams it's just that they should not be a burden while doing it, especially at 30+, there is time to work a 9-5 to pay the bills and still work on their passions, 24 hours in a day.

did you dudes not see the music video that was posted in here? :gucci:

listen to that song. THAT'S how most people trying to make it in the rap game sound in their 30's - outdated flow, sega genesis music production and un-mixed down vocals

also, trying to be a jazz musician, a rock star/musician, and a RAPPER are three completely different things

if you're 30 years old still doing open mics with that mid-90's flow, just keep it moving :camby:

First off, stop saying THATS WHAT PEOPLE ARE TRYING SOUND LIKE.

You post 1 video and all of a sudden, everyone trying to get into music is just as crappy?

I’m around enough people/artists to know what people are trying to sound like and it’s not always the same thing either...
