Swahili names are not ghetto. "Ghetto" names indicate lack of culture. Naming your child after a car, a liquor, or Asian country, attaching a couple cool sounding syllables to a name that already exists..... that's ghetto.
I plan on being a successful man, a shining example of black excellence, but I want to name my son Demetric (Duh-Meech-Rick) or Kelan (Key-Lynn) & my daughter Saneilah (Sa-Nay-Luh) or Neidra (Knee-druh)
I know we hear of hood names affecting employment and the like, and I want my kids to start life on the right foot. My name is Swahili, but no one knows what it means, much less know any Swahili names so I get lumped in with the ghetto name crowd anyway![]()

Reviewing resumes I am more inclined of pulling the unique name than a generic name like a Chris or a Brandon. Any resume I come across with those name I usually skip over anyway.
