Do you think there is a relationship between a persons taste in music & intelligence?

Black people are more likely to listen to rap, regardless of our educational/social level, because of the genre's association to our cultural story/rhythm. However, black people are also more likely to face institutional racism in the educational and financial sectors. So of course it easy to paint the picture that people who listen to this certain genre of music are dumb, but when you look at the fact that there's a certain race that particularly associates with that genre, and then realize that certain race is marginalized by that same system, the stat looks pretty stupid/naive.

Someone who listens to nothing but chart topping radio hits...I don't think there's much of relationship between that and one's intelligence...or at least it's not so concrete.
However, I do believe someone who has an eclectic/diverse taste in music can, generally, "think outside the box."
I can agree with this.

not at all. that in itself is dumb. you can listen to all the classical music, opera, or whatever, it won't affect your intelligence level nor will it make you any smarter or dumber. people have the right to listen to whatever they like without being judged based on what they listen to. there's plenty of dumbass people that listen to opera, classical music and etc. there's plenty of intelligent people that listen to rap, rock and etc.

I think the instrument shyt is true.

Like we all know flocca kinda dumb, but his producer(Lex Luger) has an above average IQ and reads all types of those war books and books by philosphers and all that shyt

and yet with his "above average iq", he doesn't know how to produce a different style of beat. dude's beats are hot garbage. damn near every beat he makes is the same thing. if he was smart enough, he would stop making the same record over and over again.

He had an interview where he states he would send rappers different kinds of beats then they send it bacc to him asking him to "give me a hard in the paint"

I knew a 30 year old grown woman who listens to Lil Wayne. She quotes the dumb lyrics as well.

anyone that actively listens to nikki minaj...lil wayne...ke$ha... etc automatically gets the idiocy stamp from me whether it's true or not that's just how i'm gonna perceive you off the bat. i'm not talking about bobbing your head to it at a party if it comes on. that's no biggie. i'm talking about buying it ...reciting the lyrics....being a genuine fan of it type deal. but i've always been pretentious and snobby when it comes to musical taste. :guilty:

nope. i think its kinda hard to measure intelligence to begin with. iq tests aren't even sufficient. but music taste, who cares. i think Gucci Mane's a genius compared to some of the smug c*nts that write for the New Yorker

if you ask me, it sounds like he's making excuses. he just doesn't know how to produce anything outside that sound. you can only get a pass for so long making the same type of beat. that excuse becomes played out when they make the same beats for the past 3 years. you're a big name producer and you're scared to switch your beats up just ONCE or TWICE because rappers don't like it? it's obvious that dude isn't a producer. more of a beat maker. damn near every producer outthere in the rap bizz has switched their style up with a beat because that's what producers do. even the neptunes with their ring ding beats has done it in their prime. your boy is just talking out his ass.
