Im a smart young guy, morehouse, pursuing grad school etc. Just saying that music ahould be looked at aesthetically and not as a measuring stick for intelligence. Smart people dont underestimate the next mans intelligence, no matter his music of choice.

I think cognitive abilities all in all can't be measured in their entirety through
a persons taste in music.

I think more intelligent people may be more open to different types of musical ideas
or learning different genre's and in turn different culture's but I don't think gravitating
towards certain genre's associated with intelligence or genius means you're just inherently intelligent.

Most people who like to listen to that shyt like Lupe and ONLY lupe the rest those wanna be smarter than everyone ass rappers are just as bad as nikkas who only listen to abc rap. They have a superiority complex for no reason at all and most of them are cornballs

Just because they like to talk about the downfalls sparingly doesn't mean their subject matter is better.

I know I'm from the 'burbs, but the first album I ever learned all the words to was Juvenile 400 Degrees. That's one of my favorite albums to this day.

I used to rap that shyt with my boo thang by the cubbies in 4th.

My dad tred to put me on ATCQ, but I wasn't havin it at the time.

I'm smart as fukk. I play like, 4 different instruments, no problems. I just like listening to that shyt. I start my morning with T.I. albums and the newest 2 Chainz song. I love it.

Yes. And on the flipside, some of the most keen minds I have ever come across belong to drug dealers, thugs, whores and felons.

But at the end of the day, I think there is a correlation between being able to appreciate somewhat complex instrumental arrangements and certain forms of higher intelligence

like i said a lot of these guys were raised to dumb themselves down for whatever stupid reason and it's evident in their music. but i guess as long as they "got rich" off it i suppose that makes up for everything
