Do you think there is a relationship between a persons taste in music & intelligence?

absolutely. most of the people i know that listen to strictly pop...top 40...and other types of music that is lacking in deeper more thoughtful lyricism are dumb as fukk. of course there's a correlation. :comeon:

lettuce be cereal for a min ....your avergae MBA/PHD holder isn't going around actively seeking out and listening to a lot of that numbskull shyt*. they just aren't.

what are they listening to then?

theres no way you can tell if someone is either "smart" or "dumb" through what music they listen too....it actually has nothing to do with intelligence, and everything to do with environment

Damn, she scored higher than I did :ohlawd:

Yeah, it caught a lot of people off guard, but then I thought about it: Smart people can easily play dumb if they need to, explaining Ke$ha and her music. But there's no way that dumb can really pull off playing smart. At the very least not as well as their smart counterparts playing dumb.

there is a connection to how pretentious somebody is.... but intelligence no.

there are a shytload of very intelligent people who enjoy ignorant ass music.
We not saying you cant enjoy it, but if its ALL you listen to 100% of the time then yea.. you tend to be a lil on the slower side.

I love listening to waka flocca, but thats not the only nikka I listen to. One minute I'll be bumping NY State of mind and Shootouts by Nas, the next minute I'll bump Thug Luv then switch to Watch My Power Spread.

Nah breh, I dont think it has anything to do with environment at all. me and my brother grew up together and we got two different taste in music.

well my sister for instance(phd) mostly listens to Bob Marley and old school "struggle outta babylon" style reggae.

i have 2 clients that are M.D's (pediatrican and psychiatrist) that like Jazz...Opera...and stuff like Pink Floyd and Coldplay. but all that stuff has thought provoking lyrics and\or interesting musical arrangements. highly intelligent people tend to seek that out because it stimulates them. of course i'm speaking generally there are exceptions :yeshrug:

I know there are exceptions to the rule, but in the grand scheme of things, the music people listen to "mainstream" is based on the environment, and what the music distributors feel like the general public is responding to.

So most people would be listening to one type of genre just because of where they live, and it wouldn't determine whether said individual is "smart" or "dumb" because he/she grew up listening to said genre.

it's all subjective tho. what's numbskull to one is enlightening to another. coldplay's lyrics are no more thoght provoking than Jeezy's
like Just Blaze said (i think it was him) Quincy jones can lead an orchestra but he'd be lost on a mpc machine :yeshrug:

Reggae jazz and old soul music doesnt correlate intelligence; some people are just exposed to a wider variety and dig what they heard.
