There are like 3 cities worldwide that compete directly with NYC. Don't mean Philly ain't got a solid place in American consciousness.

Put it this way. If Philly was in the south it would be one of the most talked about places. Since its by NYC no one talks about it at allNew York would make ANY city irrelevant besides LA and the Chi.
And why you picking on Philly bro?No one talks bad about Philly. Philly is one of the dopest cities in this damn country, surprisingly as a east coast city. They call it the city of brotherly love for a reason. Some of the nicest people you'll ever meet are from Philly.

Most people from Philly ain't gone fake and pose. What you see is what you get. You might get a hug or a slug, but ain't no questions about where brehs stand. Philly got a solid identity from fashion,music etc.
NY got too many pretentions based on boroughs and multi-culturalism and status. Can't see much valuable Black culture diff between BK and BX other than one is full of PR and the other by cacs... I can dip to Bmore, Camden, AC, Etc and actually get in a different vibe.
NYC is a great city, but I don't think Philly is lacking at all in terms of character and culture.

Rocky, Benjamin Franklin, Iverson, Wilt Chamberlain, the Eagles, Phillies, 76ers, State Property, battle rap, Meek Mill, Fat Albert, Kevin Hart, The Roots, Will Smith, cheesesteaks, Muslims, ahki beards, Liberty Bell and all the American monuments, mad movies and shows is set in Philly, some of they slang like in my bag and young bul has gone nationwide too.
I think if I wasn’t in NY, I’d probably live in Philly or DC.
