oh snap! i wish i had something like that when i was growing up. the streets can be rough. are they girls or boys or is it mixed?

Initially, it wasn't mixed. The parents were skeptical having a 21-22 yr around their daughters. I'm 25 now. That has changed. My only job was to show and prove. But, I've been apart of it since I was 15 (in the program), been mentoring for almost 5 yrs now. Started out in a program called the Black Male Institute in my middle school which influenced me to what I'm doing now. There are other elders that offer different classes on different topics...whether it be health, history, science, civics..etc I mainly focus on civics, law and some history trying to get their mind away from what's outside and interested more into studying and becoming productive in life and to their community. I spend the first 1 1/2 talking about the lesson plan and the other 1 hour just building with them.

The main thing I tell folks is to love what you do and don't expect anything but the enjoyment and fulfillment it brings to you.

On life? Try to make reparations to the people you screwed over. Apologize, even if they don't forgive you, it's still your duty to apologize. You know what you did wrong. Don't do it again.

I mean shyt when I'm at the library studying and someone next to me leaves to go wherever and they left their laptop there like an idiot and didn't ask me or anyone else to watch it(school library notorious for stealing shyt) I make sure I watch it, shyt even when I'm bout to leave I make sure I take my time(as I can depends if I have to take the train) so it gives the person enough time to come back.

If u can, go volunteer.

but the only thing that fulfills me is feeling superior to handicapped people and women. i'm hoping that by putting myself in various situations that i'll be able to kind of force my heart to realize the true power of love.

Sounds like you are depress. You cannot buy love. Love is learned.

The reason I'm saying that, because I'm in the same boat. I do so much for the people around me and it gives me a high you wouldn't believe. But, when I stare at the reflection in the mirror, I see greatness in myself, but I also see someone who's empty. You often ask yourself is that same love reciprocated.
