does anyone here think gang starr's moment of truth album is the greatest hip hop album of all time?

Solioquay of chaos is bette than every record alone on moment of truth and moment of truth has above the clouds which was carried singlehandidly by a feature and the best verse was a feature. No to mention there is no beat on moment of truth as iconic as even code of the street or mass appeal or planet and that album alone is not even listed and better than moment of truth.

Soliloquy Of Chaos!!! :ohlawd:

Code of the Streets and Mass Appeal are GOAT Gang Starr tracks, and definitely part of why I've always said Hard to Earn is their best work. That's Primo at his best.

Above the Clouds was crazy though. Best track on MOT.

Hard to earn is better than step in the arena and daily operation

Moment of truth is their best album

Hard to earn is not better than daily operation or step in the arena at all.
We can go and go a track by track review of them if you want based on the era and the reception of the record in that exact era.
Hard to earn did not rock as long as a slow burn release or high quality long player like step in the arena for starters and moment of truth is that much better than step in the arena as well.
Moment of truth and hard to earn were and never propped as long players or quality listens like step in the arena. Step in the arena the vinyl before imports pricing comes into play has higher collector value than all of them and was one of the original rare find album pr'd in the digital era as a must have before and after moment of truth. Daily operation even more so has more acclaim in quality than step in the arena but easier to find that even then daily operation is superior and step in the arena has cult following from first printing and import pressing.
Yet, still is stated below daily operation.

shyt just the twelve inch remix of dwyck is more sought after.
as a vinyl remix twelve than any other gangstarr release.

You nikkaz be making me lol with this revisionist uneducated takes.

Were you nikkaz even actually cognitive when these records dropped?

If so, there is no way that any of this would plausibly be said by someone who really collected this shyt and was about the culture.

Other than code of the streets, mass appeal and the planet being the cheif replay value of the album, past the twelves of mass appeal and code of the streets and the album cut the planet.
Hard to earn falls flat verses step in the arena and daily operation as quality lp's track to track.

You were just wrong and reactionary.
to even put moment of truth in high esteem in revision than it earned to begin with.

Just because you were going around collecting limited edition vinyl remixes doesn't mean the album is better :mjlol:

Hard to earn is the previous 2 albums on steroids production, lyrics and overall song wise..

Moment of truth was the most well rounded

Guru was always average to me, he set the blueprint for all these new nikkas who get carried by the production..

He's not wack by any means but not good enough to put albums in that top tier

him and c.l smooth

c.l smooth has 1 of the best flows but outside of that, that nikka was hardly ever talkin' bout anythin' outside of t.r.o.y.

c.l. would be just rhymin' words for the fake of rhymin'

without pete rock's beats, c.l. would've been workin' at the car wash or family dollar

Blasphemy, my dude. LOL!!!

Guru and CL were both dope MC's. Just not great to the level of their counterparts.

It's like Pete Rock said on the CJS, a lot of CL's shyt was coded for Mount Vernon. Same way, GFK's shyt is for SI. A lot of dudes from back in the day rapped that way. Pete and CL kinda needed each other. Pete's best work was in the group. I'd argue that Premier's best was too. Could they do their thing away from that? Of course. But their staple shyt, is with their groups.

Show you don't know what we talembout in full scope, when you misrate albums breh.
Like I said you were not even cognitive about gangstar's discog before this and it shows. As you know no facts about consensus fan reaction to gangstar's discog predating and after moment of truth.
I know more about gangstar than you do, and you know that so stop the bullshyt.

How you gon dismiss an albums legacy and facts..yet try to erroneously rate an album devoid of knowing about the others in the discography.

Moment of truth is carried by a feature and dominated by a feature on in the clouds.
When in the clouds is not better than anything on step in the arena and daily operation outside of said feature.

I said it in your other thread on mixing, but the mix on this album is really what makes it shine.

The album SOUNDS incredible, even today. Not sure what happened after, but this was Gang starr at their best IMO
