Blasphemy, my dude. LOL!!!

Guru and CL were both dope MC's. Just not great to the level of their counterparts.

It's like Pete Rock said on the CJS, a lot of CL's shyt was coded for Mount Vernon. Same way, GFK's shyt is for SI. A lot of dudes from back in the day rapped that way. Pete and CL kinda needed each other. Pete's best work was in the group. I'd argue that Premier's best was too. Could they do their thing away from that? Of course. But their staple shyt, is with their groups.

i enjoyed pete rock's beat far more/way more than c.l.'s rappin'
c.l. had a nice flow and all but he's was never a great mc IMO

pete and premier's best beats was in the group because it just so happened that's when they was in their prime. if either of them would've had a nas or someone of that caliber can you imagine how ever better that would've been?! :wow:

CL.smooth was not no cryptic slang wizard like Wu tang.
He was a flow only based guy who fails on the breaks.
to bring content and an actual dope line on the breaks consistently song to song.

. This is one of those situational based threads.
where it should have done some grassroots knowledge in place and supplement of being online.

To the thread starter and collective..this portion is not in responses quoted by awesome.

This is one of those situational based threads.
where you should be getting cultural knowledge of do's and don'ts from real cultural grassroots interaction.
The ts question posed is kinda fukk'n blasphemy but since it is based around a cultural group or album.
The idea the ts asked about a cultural album is like asking is the doc as an emcee when he was healthy was better than snoop.
When you should have found that answer from your own grassroots knowledge on the skills in the pillar.
This is one of those times.
where you supposed to know the culture and you have not gone out and done the cultural knowledge at all.

Do ya homework,....next time on some shyt like this.
This question posed is blasphemy level thread starting.
Nobody in the sales envelope of moment of truth ever said or asked what the threadstarter asked because they knew the principals and culture to know the answer.
Remember this is a prescient culture at its inherent core.

True.

My favorite Nas joint is still "The World is Yours". Pete was easily my favorite producer at the time. My favorite AZ track is "Rather Unique", so you see where I'm going with this. Haha. But both Pete and Preme did a ton of outside stuff, but those other things never felt the same as their group work. That's where they really did their thing.

i never said i think it is :francis:
did you read the thread title and then my 1st post? :dwillhuh:
i guess you didn't because if you would've have you wouldn't have assumed this, now would you? :martin:
i assumed that you thought that it was the goat. You wouldn't make a thread about an album being the goat if you didnt think it was the goat, now would you?

For most posters that make a thread here or there would be a fair assumption. But @stomachlines got more threads than barns got hay. :russ:

Again, moment of truth is given precedent by sales base ld convo and the context in which primo gangstar spoke on it was in that context. In no way shape or form is moment of truth better than daily operation or step in the arena at all.
I know so because my former next door neighbor was the a&r that worked that record to its sales plateau status.

I seen the plague for moment of truth but I know the truth and that is daily operation and step in the arena are better.
Solioquay of chaos is bette than every record alone on moment of truth and moment of truth has above the clouds which was carried singlehandidly by a feature and the best verse was a feature. No to mention there is no beat on moment of truth as iconic as even code of the street or mass appeal or planet and that album alone is not even listed and better than moment of truth.

Moment of truth is a sales based straw man argument as a goat albjm
It pales incomparison to even the sun rises in the east.
Which, is arguably the album in primo's discog and gangster lineage that can really vy for the goat album.

Moment of truth is just the victory sales lap release from gangster.
It is not a goat album and far from gangstar's best album.

Art Barr

what are we talking about, again? lol. lets stay on topic. as a body of work, Moment of Truth is their best effort. and that takes nothing away from any prior albums. but you could argue otherwise. but miss me with that "easily better" stuff.

it's my favorite Gangstarr album mainly because of the production. it really felt like Premo found his formula (like they were saying on that skit). the way the drum swing and hit. the way the samples would cut and leave some air at times mixed with random sounds. not that he hadn't made beats in that style before and someone correct me if i'm wrong but i think this was his first body of work with that predominant style.
