Does anyone wonder how our life would have been if instead of our ancestors coming to America they ended up in South America?

No disrespect OP but you wouldn't survive a week in the slums in Latin America if you think you got it bad right now. A lot of cats don't realize how comfortable their life is in America until they sleep on a cot in a favela, swatting at bugs, taking cold showers every day.

It's nikkas around the world that still wash up with a bucket and a rag.

San Basilio de Palenque (Palenke), is a town in Colombia 🇨🇴 which was the first free African settlement in the Americas.

The town was established by Benkos BiohĂł in the 16th century after an armed struggle against Spanish colonisers.

The people speak Palenqueros, a Bantu based language. Palenque was declared a Heritage of Humanity by the UN in 2005.

Afro Latinos are in an arguably much worse state than Aframs across the board. Less representation, VASTLY less wealth, more violence, often worse birth rates surprisingly enough. At least in the US black people were able to exploit American liberty propaganda - literally none of that exists in Latin America. Afro Brazilians are really fukked in particular. Even worse wealth inequality than the US and over 60k homicides annually.

We are also more assimilated being in the heart of white supremacy. Therefore we are the strongest cancer among all blacks globally. While simotaneously being the foremost experts in white supremacy, and leaders of the black free world.

Which diaspora do you think has retained the most African culture?
Very simple (oversimplified): when you visit other African diaspora communities, it is quickly realized how the AA community was striped if it's African hertiage, customs and culture. "Black" culture is de-Afrikanized culture. I can put it to you better this way: the fact you even have fringe groups that will claim to be something else besides African is enough proof within itself. That said, as a Haitian American in Colombia i see way more black women that can blend in better in Haitian than a stunning amount of AA can.
In AA culture the Gullah Geechee of southern states retained most of their African roots

I know brother but that miniscule amount compared to the rest of AA community. I hope this is not a hot take but Afrikan is more of an offensive word in the US than it is in more places.

I genuinely wonder if our lives would be any better or worse than now. Although black people still face police brutality in Latin America , there wasn’t segregation or Jim Crow laws, there isn’t mass shootings targeting black people, no lynchings, no medical experiments, interracial marriages weren’t illegal…..

If you compare the history we have in America to our Latin brehs, we certainly have faced more challenges and issues. This isn’t to say their isn’t racism in Latin America( because there definitely is) but it seems to be way less than what we face here
Most of our ancestors (meaning Africans from slave trade) did end up South America. Pick a SA country and read some of the history - although they buried most black history deeper than America did...
