I have a question for the people who think the music industry is trying to push blacks out of R&b and Hip hop; why didn't they do it a long time ago? I mean both forms of music have been around for decades, why are they just waiting until today? Why didn't they try to push out black people during the peak of R&b and Hip Hop music's popularity? Why would they wait until hardly anyone in the music can barely go Gold.

they aren't trying to push blacks out of their own genres but they are and always have tried to get white acts who can best imitate the "black" sounds because they usually sell more when they do it for obvious reasons.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but my thing is, how the hell are we getting mad at dude for "jacking" anything if we don't take advantage of the situations ourselves (btw, is he black, mixed, mexican?)?

All I hear from our R&B artists is fukkin, smoking, eating ass, breaking up, and partying...who's fault is it for not snapping out of the bullshyt and coming up with dope concepts?
This. All day.

Black artists need to step their game way the fukk up before i criticize any non black artist for what could be perceived as appropriating.

black artists use to be the cream of the crop in every genre they touched....now theyre mostly the used up coffee grinds at the bottom of the cup.

the fall off has been horrendous. i used to love R&B.

People keep talking about having a machine behind you. Aren't we the machine now? Radio and tv supposed to be dead because we're all on the internet but people are still talking about this machine that's pushing certain non black artists. A lot of artists back in the day thrived off of midnight love, yo mtv raps, rap city, midnight love, etc. We don't have that anymore. You got all these people and networks bringing back all these old shows and shyt.. why not bring back a couple video shows? I'm not talking about BET Jams and all these video stations buried down to channel 300 and shyt, I'm talking about putting videos back on bet Mtv and vh1.

Wasnt New Kids put together by a Black guy?

I mean seriously when u think about it....If a Blackman said 'let me do what I did with New Edition but make them white' wouldnt that be more of a business move on the Blackmans part?

they were put together by the same black guy who managed NE, Maurice Starr. When he broke up with NE, he started NKOTB.

Maurice Starr discovered New Edition and created New Kids On The Block.

And New Kids was managed by dikk Scott.

We've always been "the machine" as fans.

That's why Motown took over the music industry in the 1960s as a small, independent
black owned-and-run company in Detroit.

That's why Run-DMC on small-azz Profile Records outsold Billy Joel on big-azz "machine" CBS Records in 1986.

That's why Tupac's music outsold Metallica in the mid 90s.

I enjoy him in small doses, its nice to hear that era ... but he is gimmicky and I think his dancing is sub par

He's been doing the same dance moves for years and his performances are on some chuck-e-cheese shyt

it is but it's also influenced by the same reason why white people can eat more off BLACK music than the actual black talent/pioneers, themselves

it's not true though. You think it's true because all you know is what's in the top 40 which is why this thread was made

Essential - Official thread for current/modern R&B based music that's not being heard by the masses/top 40 radio

But if I'm going in the game ready to conduct business yet knowing before hand that a) the USA is over 70% white and b) I already know who owns everything involved with telecommunications I'm just going to still do what I have to do and handle my business.

I get what u saying tho....U are acknowledging the whole. I'm looking at it from the perspective of the one doing business. Maurice lost New Edition and struck the lotto twice with New Kids On The Block.
There's an interview on Youtube clip from back in the day were a younger Maurice says he has 100 mil while New Kids was popping. If I'm Maurice in 2018 somewhere chilling in a mansion you think I'm gonna be worried about what u saying right now? Sure it might cross his mind once in a while but the blistering gaze of the fire from the fireplace in his 11 foot ceiling Master bedroom hypnotizes him and takes his mind away from all that. If I make 100 mil and thru smart moves I am able to hold onto some of it decades later...I'm gonna be fcused on enjoying life.

I repeat,I get what u saying tho....U are acknowledging the whole.
