There is one thing that we gotta acknowledge as well though. Something that no one expected when they were both coming out of college.
Russ is a better scrambler/runner than Cam.
Russ almost rushed for 900 yards this year. So he's picking up more yards down the field than Cam. He also does it without taking big hits. He also is a much better thrower on the run and is quicker to buy time to find an open wr.
Again. No one saw that coming when they were both coming out of college.
Cam is really just a pocket passer. He's better throwing from there than on the move. However, if he could ever get his footwork together he could really take his game to another level.
Yes I have always said that Russ was a better QB than Cam and he is the best QB out of all the young ones.
If you want to take it old school Cam is more like Elway and Russ is more like Montana. In saying that Montana was a west coast offense QB and Elway was a air coryal offense QB.
However Montana was better he always had better teams offensively and defensively where as Elways teams had poor OLs, poor running games and small WRs. Luckily Elways Denver teams were able to put pieces around him and get him an OC in his late 30s.
In saying all that what I mean is no matter if Russ is better it is all about a coach and GM putting pieces around a QB and placing him in a offense where he can succeed. As you know one of the biggest issues with Carolina is that they rarely give Cam easy throws. Very few screens, very few slant and most plays are long developing. Well if you have long developing plays you needs speed at WR and a OL that can pass block long enough.
It is all about coaching and weapons man. It is a reason why Denny Green can take both Randell and Culpepper to NFC Championship games (in a 3 year period) and dudes both threw for over 30 TDs before all these fukking pass happy rules.
