Does LeBron deserve credit for not needing to be "the man"?

Because he put up the same numbers in the Finals that his 2 and 3 put up combined. :ld:

Right so that means he needs more help. Taking a max deal restricts the help that can get put around him. I'm sure he realizes that but does not seem to care.

Well Wade and Bosh could always take a deal commensurate to their contribution. :yeshrug: He carries most of the load and takes ALL of the shyt when shyt goes south so why shouldn't he get the max? shyt isn't even close anymore those dudes are both glorified role players at this point.

The problem with Marbury/KG was the contract the Wolves gave KG. Marbury thought he should get something equivalent, but they didn't give it to him. He was salty about it.

The same thing almost went down in OKC with Durant/Westbrook, but OKC decided to pay Westbrook too.

So why is he demanding a max salary and wanting to be the highest paid on his team (well deserved) if he really doesn't mind sharing the spotlight. If its all about winning then he should take less again so his team or the team he goes to can get pieces around him and continue to win rings

Hey genius, he's a top all-time player and he's barely 30 years old and he's NEVER had a max contract in his career. Keyword being, 'never'
It doesn't matter what he wants, LeBron has clearly been "The Man" wherever he goes, there's no way around it.

Ironically (based on how the media wants to portray players) LeBron seems a lot more secure in himself than most superstar level athletes.

That's pretty much my point. There's a difference between being "the man" by default of being the best player.....and purposely demanding other players to be traded or demanding urself be traded all due to ego.

who cares about the max contract. He makes more bread off the court than on the court. Lebron said his goal was to be on mt rushmore and to be GOAT. he can get on MT Rushmore (possibly) but his time as being goat has passed. My point is the team needs a lot of pieces so him taking the max does not help his cause.

Lebron knows being a champion will bring more money than a max contract by itself.

They put up better numbers with Lebron previously. If you are a max superstar there are no excuses for putting up that kind of performance in the Finals, most certainly not the presence of another max superstar that is carrying more of the load than your are.

LeBron is trying to be the GOAT PLAYER, not the GOAT GM... let Riley figure out how to put the players around him. It's not like teams with max salaries haven't won titles before.

LeBrons numbers in Cleveland are pretty much what he put up in Miami :camby: he's the only guy that got to play the same way while the other two sacrificed their games

:heh: so you're basically asking if bron deserves the credit that logically and rightfully belongs to Wade for putting his own ego aside after a season of non stop "who should be the man" wrangling and outperforming bron in the finals...and completely giving the reigns of his team over to bron, taking himself from being his costar to being his "glorified role player"?

Bron is a great player and there are no shortage of things to give him credit for...but :dwillhuh: ...he's not the one that had to sacrifice being the "man" ...Wade and Bosh pretty much cut their balls off and handed them to bron...they're looked at like mo Williams and Jj Hickson now
