Who are these people she's talking about? it's still strong 'fukk dem kids' energy from all the people I know who are in their 30s with no kids.
Unless she's talking about people in their 40s and 50s, and even then, you could do everything 'right' and still end up with kids that are selfish, kids that are mentally or physically ill, or kids that just fukking resent you for having brought them into this garbage-ass world that gets worse each day. You have to go back to the fundamental question of "why am I doing this?"
It cant be because of family pressure
It cant be because you expect them to take care of you in old age
It can't be because you're bored
It can't be because "this is the next stage in my life"
There has to be a reason that goes beyond what you, or anyone else wants and taps into what you genuinely feel about the world at large and how your children will fit into it.
For me, if I'm having kids, it's because I genuinely want to set them up to be part of a group that will turn things around for the dumpster fires that previous generations have created. They'll exist as both my hope for humanity's future, and as the punishment for those who've selfishly doomed most of us. THAT is the reason I'd want to have them. To give them every positive attribute, every ounce of knowledge, everything that I have obtained and be convinced that they will be the kind of people who will use that to change the world for the better. Of course I would want them to experience the things I didn't get to have in childhood too, and you're either too stupid to realize how fortunate you are, or totally delusional if you think that this current generation of adults as a whole has been set up to be able to raise kids in the kind of economic, political, and environmental stability that our parents enjoyed.
