Imagine how scary it is to be old as dirt, expect a high paying wage in a career that is being outsourced, phased out or overrun with young people who work faster for less. Job security for old people is frightening. They just want to get to retirement but the company doesn't want to pay that so they'll find a way to fire you before you retire

Job security, guaranteed raises, good benefits, tier 1 retirement plan, like minded coworkers, short commute, in one of the best cities in the world? I'm good with it.

All the "start your own business" thing is good. But you still have to work, and your "boss" won't be ONE person, it will be MANY people because you have to manage customer relations and employee relations because its YOUR business.

This is also another reason why we're seeing the "age of the entrepreneur" take hold for younger people.

I remember I moved home after an internship and worked at my boys brothers hoagie place for a few months. I was making like 8 bucks and hour but I had money saved from my internship it was like a transition job. This dude was ok but he could be a huge dikk. I remember mopping the floor and just thinking why the fukk am I busting my ass for 8 bucks an hour for this a$$hole. Thats when it hit me and I never looked back, been running my own shyt for about a year now. I don't make as much money as some of my homeys but I got no boss and plenty of freedom.

@Kuwka_Atcha_Ratcha didn't you used to post on sohh? You do graphic design or something for S.A.S or that a diff dude?

You got that right. Gotta master a side hustle in 2014 because your employer wants the most skill for the least amount of money and that last crash showed employers that they can do more with less

It's a little scary. Hopefully all of us have a little bit of an exit strategy or some type of vision of getting out of being old and still working 40 hrs a week.

I'll admit that I have no solid plan. I have the means though so all isn't lost. :yeshrug:
