does Tim Duncan go down as a top 5 player of all time

Duncan is easily a top 5/6 range. Elite peak and elite longevity.

this. people just enamored with erroneously classing him as a PF so they can say he's the GOAT. dude has been a 5 since David Robinson retired. and he ain't been the best player on his own team since 07.

great prime. he's 3rd best behind Kobe and Shaq since 98. but being top 5 all-time? hell naw. Kobe and Shaq both bodied him too much for me to say otherwise.

I wouldn't say as a player, because there are still 4 players with individual athleticism and stats as good as his or better.

Top 5 careers? That's harder to list. There are very few players who have had the career Timmay has had.

But for me

Yeah, I would take Duncan over Kobe. I would definitely take Shaq over Kobe. Shaq could have been GOAT if he took his fitness seriously.

Bron isn't nearly done. He's gonna be top 3 minimum the way he's going.

I think Duncan is near the top of that short list of players in the 6 to 12 range that fall just short of that top 5 (MJ, Wilt, Kareem, Russell, Oscar Robertson). That list includes a bunch of legends who are so close in terms of resume and/or skill that they're virtually indistinguishable for ranking purposes.
