Does Undertaker have the perfect professional wrestling career?

Like in terms of when you break into the business, if you could map out exactly how it will go, does Undertaker have basically the blueprint for how you would want your wrestling career to go?

- Universally respected by everyone he has ever worked with (has ANYONE ever said a bad word about him?)
- Made millions, and has a job for life
- Legendary gimmick that, to keep it fully protected, requires little to no press or media work
- Has been able to work a part time schedule for basically the last 5-6 years, while still getting big-money and high-profile Wrestlemania matches
- Worked with every single top guy from his era
- Been a main event caliber performer from the time he set foot in the company to the time he will retire, spanning more than 25 years.


I don't think you could write a script much better than that.

imagine being a rookie fresh out of training and the bosses are like "okay you're just gonna beat everybody, don't worry you'll never have to work a match longer than 5 minutes."

then after 5 months you're beating hogan for the title in a packed stadium.

Set for life, hasn't wrestled in over 10 years.

Undertaker is vastly overrated. He's had a decent enough career, but he wasn't really shyt in the latter 90's and bossed it in Heyman's Smackdown era. If it wasn't for that era, he and Kane likely would've retired quietly 10 years ago. But yeah, he's set for life, yet won't be left the fukk alone to show up once a year.

I'll change my mind if he gives us one more extended Summer run to lead to his retirement match. But meh...

But his body is wrecked. He's had a sweet deal for the last several years, but he paid for that with his health.

I'd say the Rock. Got in, went to a GOAT level in well under a decade, and got out with his health. Then he went on to be even bigger in another industry based on his wrestling fame. Not to mention he's currently known as the only guy in the industry who can make a noticeable impact when he returns to wrestling a few times a year.

You gotta point, but dude lived on vacation days. When he came back, as LaterTaker, it was completely piff, and then the MORE vacation shut started kicking in. He's not that unhealthy, just lazy imho.

I don't know, man, I think I'm gonna give Taker the benefit of the doubt when it comes to the legitimacy of his injuries. Over twenty-five years in the business, a lot of times working against big dudes, takes its toll. Vacations or not.

I'm not saying I disagree, but I'm beginning to wonder why so many people cling to this argument. Nas wasn't a crossover star but that doesn't mean you can't make a case for him being the greatest. He's a star to the people that matters, the fans.
