Yes.
Why?
Stereotypes/Racism
An hispanic can get a more mainstream gimmick (But just barely). Blacks get to do very few things on the show.
95% of wrasslin fans are Trump supporters
Believe it or not, the only study I've seen on this issue has stated otherwise.
Which Sport Has Most Politically Liberal Fans?
These days it seems politicians, especially those in Washington, can't find much to agree on.
While that polarization is unlikely to die down anytime soon, hopefully it will simmer for the next few weeks during the NCAA tournament.
A chart created from
research compiled by Mike Shannon and Will Feltus for the National Journal shows that a love of college basketball appears to be one thing that both liberals and conservatives can agree on. Shannon and Feltus analyzed more than 200,000 interviews conducted by Scarborough Research, and they found that college basketball fans are some of the nation's most bipartisan supporters.
As you can see on the accompanying chart, college basketball fans appear to be slightly more conservative and more politically active than baseball fans.
Interestingly, fans of the NBA appear to be much more liberal than fans of college basketball. In fact, judging by the chart, NBA fans are some of the country's most liberal. The only sport whose fans are further to the left is the WNBA.
Meanwhile, those who identified as Republicans seemed to enjoy golf the most, with college football close behind.
I'm not sure what the metrics were or how scientific it was, but, I don't necessarily think it's completely off-base.
While we tend to view wrestling fans as just southern type of people that wear trucker hats and drink Budweiser...I think it's clear that there is more to the audience than that.
Honestly...a large percentage of wrestling fans these days seems to be...yuppie hipster types that watch the sport ironically. I think that wrestling may have tapped into the "geek subculture" at this point, which would include a lot of younger people that aren't necessarily conservative in their viewpoint.
The people that go to Hoodslam. Those Brooklyn people. NXT. I think those people are making up a lot of the audience these days.
The wrestling audience, from what I can glean, seems to mostly be composed of :
Families (With their children included)
Stereotypical Republican Cac Types
Minorities
The ironic/geek crowd I was talking about.
Maybe the 45 year old white neckbeard dude is still the largest individual section, but I don't think they have "enough votes" to overturn everyone else.
I don't think WWE knows how to book a black person , they would end up giving them a corny gimmick , for example Wrestling has fallen off so bad that we have guys running around with colored dildos on there heads and we call that over
Now look at The Rock , there's no way Vince could come up with something like that
To be fair, America doesn't know how to "book a black person". We have the thinnest amount of leeway as far as our representation goes. See : The Ghostbusters Remake
That's no excuse for Vince of the WWE....just saying, it's no surprise that our representation on Raw tends to be so stereotypical.
