Rae is possibly my favorite MC of all time but the hate for the Bieber track is 100% justified.

The problem with Rae is that other dudes in the industry give him so much respect that he gets trigger shy when it comes time to shyt on wack nikkas like Ross, Bieber, Kanye etc.... this the same nikka that shyt on Biggie and almost had him murdered over rap beef.

i wouldve thought that raekwon would be the last person to do a song with bieber. it proves that all these so-called real hip-hop heads are phoney.

The track isn't good, or bad, it's just kinda odd. All I see is people saying he sold out, or is phony, but without giving any kind of logical reason why. "Oh Bieber is a pop star, so he sold out!"....that's not how it works.

Rae looked, acted, and rhymed exactly the same before, during and after the Bieber collabo. So how exactly did he "sell out", and to who? I seriously doubt Bieber's fan base was running around bumpin "Incarcerated Scarfaces" after that song dropped....and Rae's music stayed exactly the same.

Matter of fact, since people seem confused about what "selling out" or "crossing over" is, and the thread is about Rae and Nicki Minaj, let's do this....

Nicki Minaj in 2008:

Nicki Minaj now:

Raekwon in 1995:

The same, right?

I can't fault anyone for doing a song with Beiber. It's the same as doing a song with Justin Timberlake. If it sounds good, let it ride.

Nicki made "Check It Out" which was also a single that was very much in the vein of "Starships". That was a straight up Pop record, so I fail to see how "Starships" is a sellout move if she was doing those type of records before.

With Justin Beiber, it's no different than rappers doing songs with Chris Brown especially back when CB was a teen pop sensation.

why cant he do a song with justin bieber? because he's popular? i never understood the logic of some "hip hop heads", makes no type of sense to me. justin bieber isn't vanilla ice, ha, he's not making a mockery of the culture with his clownery, some of his music is hot

are we comparing a teeny popper white kid to r&b stars? i think the difference is starships is a single and the other song wasnt.

He did actually, on Twitter. People seem to forget that Bieber was on Twitter asking Kanye about doing a song with him and Rae:

Fred.

My bad, sleepy when i wrote this.

I meant to say:

"naw but that was some cornball shyt. and i'm very confident he did it hoping it would help him. Picture some young UNKNOWN white dweeb asking to collab with him. I couldnt see him doing it just to collab with the lil white boy. I think kanye did the asking. But i feel he only agreed cause it seemed like a good business move" shyt was mad corny to me though.

POINT IS HE DID IT AS A SELL OUT MOVE TO ADVANCE AND THAT'S THE ONLY REASON HE'D TAKE THAT RISK. I DONT THINK HE'D DO THAT IF HE WAS REALLY ON AND POPPIN RIGHT NOW.

If you think Kanye is wack then you might want to pick another musical genre you listen to.

What does his skin color have to do with it? Sure, Chris Brown is an R&B artist that makes crossover records while Beiber is a Pop artist that makes records that have crossed over to R&B ("Baby" feat. Ludacris). Justin Beiber sounds more like Chris Brown than he does JT. Both Chris Brown and Justin Beiber make teeny bopper music. Chris Brown has songs like "Turn Up The Music", "Yeah 3X" and "Don't Wake Me Up" in his catalog. That's not mentioning "With You" and "Forever" from his second album.

"Check It Out" was a single. Although it was intended for will.i.am, it appears on Nicki's album.
