Don't like that they tried the Say So feel. You can't recreate that vibe ever again.

Nah Say So had that 70s vibe. This song coo but I just feel like it's just trying to recreate that feel that Say So gave and I hate when artists do that.

Say So had that late 70’s Disco vibe

Jealous Type has that late 80’s Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis vibe

The thing that I’m looking at is how Doja Cat called her albums Planet Her and Hot Pink cash grabs and albums she did for the money when she was promoting her last album, Scarlett

Now it seems like she’s hopping back on the Planet Her and Hot Pink (Pop) wave again

My guess is her label didn’t like the feedback Scarlett had and they wanted her to go back to the Pop that she’s had the most success with.

With this album Vie, she’s even working with Jack Antonoff (same writer and producer who works with Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Olivia Rodrigo etc)

I get that artist have to compromise from time to time but this shyt got me looking at her like :skip:

Because this seems like she’s going backwards

I thought the new album would be even more hip hop and i thought she’d drop the songs she recorded with Alchemist too

I remember when she was talking bout wanting to work with 9th Wonder and letting him produce some songs for her

Then she was taking bout doing a Punk album

She was even talking bout doing music with a band and making music that was reflective of what she grew up listening that her mom use to play: Badu, D’Angelo, 2pac, Jamiroquai etc

Now it just feels like she’s just conforming and doing what everyone else is doing and making another cash grab album that she said her two albums before Scarlett were

She can do the Pop music effortlessly and it’s not like her Pop music is bad, but I thought she was an artist who was different from the rest of these artists of her era but now she just seems like more of a follower.

Definitely feel you on the going backwards point. Agora Hills was great single for Scarlett I feel like she should stay in that lane as far as singles go.

Jealous Type could be a great album cut but it shouldn't be a single cause now it comes off as forced. And labels need to learn to stop trying to recreate smash singles with the same artists. It never works. It just has to be organic no matter how much of the machine you put behind it.

Exactly

Labels don’t get it; they will run back to the same formula until fans move on and lose interest

Just watched her MTV VMA performance from the other night

Just feel like she’s playing dress up now

It’s clear as day her label ain’t like the Scarlett album and the feedback from it and told her to go back to making Pop music

Smh she just playing the game and doing what she’s already done before again
