A vast majority are angry and disappointed.
When I was younger, I used to go at religious people all the time in person. I've gone to churches to talk with the pastors to get answers to my questions. People on here are acting like religious folk are so strong and reasonable but when questions could up, either they crumble down to "you just need to believe and submit" or they take offend to such questions like "God don't like you questioning this". It's pointless to go in on them but like you say, but if they bring it up...I avoid the topic because MOST black people are religious ...but if they bring it up

Didn't read the original thread you're speaking on and don't really care enough too but If what you say is true then that is kinda pathetic. But a lot of people don't like stirring the pot and aren't confrontational or firm in their beliefs around other people with more dominant personalities.
Personally I'm not the type to shyt on anyone's beliefs like that but as far as fam or people in general bringing up going church or any of that nonsense I hit em with a quick nah. And when they ask why I tell em that if there's a god that created all of this around us and the earth with 7 billion people why would he care about anyone going to a building for an a few hours out of the week. Plus what do I look like paying money out of my pocket for another man to live better than me because he has a way with words.

I pass. My ma straight up will be like you trying to go hell. Never really hit it off like that with a strongly religious chick and that's probably the reason because I always say the same shyt when the topic comes up. Now these half ass religious women don't really give a fukk like that
I believe in God tho because I don't think all this shyt in the universe and how it was created is possible just because of some luck type shyt but follow some outdated rules in a book that's been passed through thousands of hands and edits

I don't think you understand how hard it is to grow up being taught and whole heartedly believing in something, only to deny later. You don't deny a very important aspect of your life that's been embedded into you by your love ones out off pure anger and disappointment. Anger and disappointment may spark your skepticism, but it's the knowledge that you get once you stop being afraid to start asking questions that causes the denial.
How can we be angry and disappointed in a God that we don't believe exists?

I think religion is stupid and I don't believe in God, but I tell black women that I'm Christian. I do this for my own amusement. It's funny to see them go on and on about God and the Christian life.
I've met about maybe two Black atheists but just in passing. I've met plenty of fake Christians, Muslims, Hindus, Rastas, 'Hotep' nikkas etc. who ain't about shyt and need to stop pretending and just say that they're agnostic.

You should throw the spiritual but not religious and believe in a vague higher power folks in this bucket too.
People just use it as argue points and they bash it because to them, it makes them appear smarter than a believer. I'm most definitely agnostic but I don't go around calling believers dumb, etc. There are believers that are a lot smarter than anyone on this board, they are also in fields that go against their religion on multiple levels. This mini war on religion is a distraction from the true issues at hand. Only an internet atheist or people that are just bored with their life will argue about that topic. Hell, we saw that even on a professional level, the argument is pointless. You are rarely going to sway someone from their point of view.
