The Dominican elites and the Dominican agriculture sector benefits from the current immigration situation

Easy source of cheap labor and an open market to export their bullshyt products directly next door.

Tell the Dominicans to build the wall and cut all diplomatic relations.... but they WON'T do that because theyre full of shyt.

Their economy would collapse if they didnt have access to cheap labor and the Haitian market to export their low-quality agriculture.

Dominicans do alot of talking and flexing but the numbers don't lie.

They benefit from Haiti being destabilized but wanna play victim.

No disrespect but I only see these comments from those who have no intention of fixing Haiti, have no solution to fixing Haiti, and are comfortably living abroad from Haiti.

There is nothing Dominicans want more than a stable Haiti :pachaha: .

And the protests on Saturday was spearheaded by government officials and organization groups. The current president is on borrowed time due to his inaction at the border.

Corruption is what keeps most African and caribbean countries down. It's upsetting when you see countries like Sweden, Korea or Japan having the highest development human index, with the best gross production, innovating every time in tech, super developed cities...and then you see fukking congo or haiti at the bottom of the barrel with the goofiest problems of the millennia. When you know that these countries would easily be at the top of the chain food if they stopped acting like dumbass.

NO MORE corruption, discipline, self-respect, investing 95% of the public revenue on army, health and education, like damn are we cursed or what? All East Asian countries did that shyt, and went at the top in 2, 3 decades, why we can't?? How is that mission impossible??

They have no idea how the DR Government and elite class completely sold them out for cheap Haitian labor. And now you got Pedro beefing with Pierre over scraps under the guise of "Patria" :mjlol:

ahahahahahaha exactly

Dominican elites getting rich as fukk while the poor Dominican nationalist marching in the streets crying like a hoe.

Well the politicians and wealthy dominicans certainly benefit and maybe the "middle class" ones do a little due to cheaper goods from cheaper labor but the majority of the dominicans dont really benefit all that much from the system based on what I know.

The DR economy collapsing doesnt mean all that much to rank and file dominicans as the economy is mostly shyt as it is anyway. I know a young female who works full time as a banker there and she makes maybe 400 USD a month at absolute most

Because Africa has resources the whole world wants. China and the West wont let Africa breathe. Its a blessing and a curse to have resources.

Chickens are coming home to roast. There are consequences to propping up one side of the an island, over the other, for generations. Too bad Dominicans are have to deal with the brunt of it.

Anyone talking about economics is missing the point of the OP.

In my 6 years residing here that’s all I heard was the economic impact Haitian migration had on low skilled Dominicans.

The difference with Saturday’s protest is this was about identity and nationhood. That’s a dangerous game that usually is a level above economics.

Until the wall is built and diplomatic relations are cut - I'm not trying to hear shyt.

You're a sovereign nation....act like one.

Man up and cut those diplomatic relations!!!!

Let Haiti sink or swim on its own.... and you can do the same.

But you won't.... cause you p*ssy.

Yeah especially if its government sponsored. It's a last ditch effort to consolidate power and control while scapegoating someone else. It's a play seen throughout history plenty of times.

Interesting to see "ideas" and "concepts" like race and nationalism play out through the actions of human beings...

Its like those coding toys for kids...
Program it turn this way or that way and push the go button...

The fail safe in humans is our fear of the truth of external control. We will rationalize fukked up behavior before correcting fukked up behavior because correction requires acceptance of error...

They all know where this leads but will not act to stop it because "we're right"...

Haiti has never been as destabilized in my lifetime, as it is now. Even the oldest people in our families have never seen it this bad.

Backlash from the people who share the island was inevitable, as our problems spill over and become their problems.

Dominicans sat back and watched the US gut Haiti. Not even one diplomatic note of protest

:unimpressed:
