Answer to what though? I simply stated that the Taino were the first people here. I never stated that the Dominicans never got here before the Haitians did.

But I’m arguing schematics, I just want a better Haiti, I would love to go back home. I fear this conflict will lead to a lot of blood shed. A part of me won’t blame the Dominican government for trying to protect themselves.
I agree 👍 all I want is for the Dominicans to cut relations with the homeland( diplomatic and business related) so Haiti could sink or swim.

:pachaha: Did the French or Spanish bring slaves and settle the island first?

what language do Haitians speak? What language do Dominicans speak?

There’s your answer.

Yes yes Hincha. I was thinking of Dajabon but I knew that wasn’t correct.
Yeah about that, Dajabon was part of Juana Mendez (Ouanaminthe) but the town was split in half in 1939 the dominican half is Dajabon and the haitian half is Ouanaminthe, but it was originally the same town. Kind of like how berlin was split in half.

As for Hincha, there was actually a dominican president that was born in that town that now belongs to Haiti. His name was Pedro Santana and he fought against the haitians in the war of independence.

So yeah, losing all that territory was a massive L for the DR, but i think we should take the L and leave it at that.

Nobody is Denying Dominican slaves were brought to the island first literally every Haitian and Haitians in the diaspora knows that :russ: what paradox said is the original inhabitants of the island are not the Spaniards or Dominicans, neither the Haitians, the original natives are the tainos :snoop: I've been reading all your post on this thread breh you keep strawmanning shyt.

Thats not what she was responding to.

Unless she’s illiterate, I responded to someone saying that Dominicans don’t know Haitian history, and I said I’m sure they do as they watched them arrive to the island.

Again y’all distort this phrase to usurp the reality that Dominicans inhabited the island before Haitians. Yes and of course Taínos, but I’m excluding them.

So again I ask who was there first, Dominicans or Haitians?

ETA: i see she responded, but that it shouldn’t have taken all that. Her responding with Taino was deliberate and I called it out

I’m literate, but English is a fukked up language and nothing makes sense.

But yeah, the Spanish settled there first.

Also it wasn’t, I’m just very passionate my people and that entire island history.

Nikka you expect me 2 believe Dominicans know Haitian history because Dominican slaves were there first, not because someone from the DR would get curious about the guys next door...nah because Dominican slaves were there first :russ: what kind b.s. you smoking breh.

P.S. the arrogance in which you believe that Haitians wouldn't know Dominican history :scust:

I guess someone is trying to make political hay becuase unless they want to invade Haiti I'm not seeing the point of this.
I doubt it's invasion, they're probably gonna shut down the border but until DR cuts trade relations with haiti ain't shyt gonna change :yeshrug:

Exactly even a short term clousure of the border would hurt the DR Basically almost everything Haitians buy comes from the DR. The DR's ports are far more effecient.

Ppl without Dominican ancestry representing the country is a sign that it’s being lost. :comeon:
Culturally you already said they don't speak creole, never been to Haiti, and would identify as Dominican and genetically the island aint that damn big all them motherfukkers share something in common

Imagine going to enroll your kids into a school in your neighborhood and suddenly it’s kids who don’t look like your children.

There is little interaction outside of tourist zones. Once you get into barrios, bateys, it’s strictly a hi or bye as even though the language may be the same customs are different because of the parents.

Guess what you need to be Haitian? A Haitian parent and even then there’s levels. So I’ll never understand why Dominicans are expected to extend a grace they wouldn’t receive there
