I have always been fukk Donald Glover but this recent backlash is some bullshyt
nikka was just trying to push the envelope as a director
They'd be calling him a genius if Dominique was white

And fukk the Root
Is she was white they would have said why isn't she black :mjlol: he was still pandering in the show as is with that ending And it still wasn't enough for them , I don't see how anyone could say Black women were portrayed negatively in Atlanta

The crazy thing is Donald Glover has directly helped launch several BLACK WOMEN’S careers.

He’s the FIRST ever tv show-runner to assemble an all black writers room, including a black woman named Stefani Robinson, who went on to sign her own production deal with FX and has had tremendous success

He hired a black woman, Sherrie Silver, an at the time unknown Rwandan dancer, to choreograph the video for his biggest song, This Is America. She also appeared in the video and on Saturday Night Live with him and choreographed and appeared in his film Guava Island. She went onto win the VMA for Best Choreography for her work in the video

First project he did when he signed his massive deal with Amazon was hire a black woman, Janine Nabers, to co-create, write, and serve as showrunner on Swarm. Swarm is Janine Nabers creative vision much more than it is Glover’s. She wrote the story outline, co-wrote the pilot, and wrote or co-wrote three more of the season’s 7 episodes. A black woman, Adamma Ebo, directed three episodes of the series. Kara Brown, Karen Joseph Adcock, and Malia Obama are all also credited writers on the series.

Black women literally shaped the characterization, themes, plot, and execution of this series.

From left to right. Adamma Ebo (Director 3 episodes) Kara Brown (co-writer 1 episode) Malia Obama (co-writer 1 episode) Janine Nabers (Co-creator, Showrunner, writer 1 episode, co-writer 4 episodes) Donald Glover (Co-creator, executive producer, co-writer 1 episode, director 1 episode) Stephen Glover (co-writer 2 episodes, director 1 episode) Karen Joseph Adcock (co-writer 1 episode) Jamal Olori (co-writer 1 episode)

I fail to see how Donald Glover “Hates” black women if he’s using his status in the industry to continually put them in positions they wouldn’t otherwise have been included. Isn’t that what black men are SUPPOSED to do? Look out for our own and help build them up?

Close the thread/

Black men this is how you stay on code.

Lemme guess, the main character had a cac love interest?

the main character was a wench she picked a random whiteboy out of a club to lose her virginity to that didn't even say two word's to her picked him just because🤷‍♀️

the black dude actually had to be nice to her give her a place to stay and have backstage and afterparty access giving her a chance at her ultimate goal then she trapped the good breh in a walk-in freezer

she and a group ratchet hood stripper's after having a explicit rated r plantation orgy sex scene with a cac baseball team go on to kill another good black man who welcomes them into his home and helps fix's their broken down car asking for nothing in return

I haven't seen the show but recently criticized what Glover told the actress solely from an artistic perspective. I agree it's the audience's job to find sympathy in a character, but all great television features multi faceted, complex characters. Arguably the greatest television character of all time, Tony Soprano, is a deplorable sociopath and yet it never stops you from imagining meeting him and enjoying his company. I'm not sure how you create interesting television or interesting characters telling your actor/actress that they have no background, no façade of humanity, etc. Most noteworthy serial killers attempt to participate in common society and form personalities based on blending in or pretending to be normal.

The black woman criticism though...nah, not buying it. Even if I don't like the creative vision, we've seen this type of character before. Only difference is it's a black woman this time instead of a white guy. I may find it boring but I'll certainly defend it from baseless claims of anti-black woman hate lol. Since when is there a requirement that all black women in film/tv be Black Girl Magic oracles of you-go-girl goodness? This seems like the symptom of having a generation of people who don't value art as...art.

I fail to see how Donald Glover “Hates” black women if he’s using his status in the industry to continually put them in positions they wouldn’t otherwise have been included. Isn’t that what black men are SUPPOSED to do? Look out for our own and help build them up?

Find me a white person who hired an ENTIRE creative team of black people to do anything in a creative space and then used they’re platform to put black women in CHARGE of that creative space.

Find me ONE example

“Chris Rock told me, ‘Man, they wouldn’t have let me make your show back in the day.’ I’m a little better than Chris, because I had Chris to study. And now I am actively looking for the black female to replace me.”

This was 2018. Again, since that time a BLACK WOMAN, Janine Nabers pitched him the series Swarm. Donald not only utilized his platform to get the series made, he also put the black WOMAN who pitched the idea in charge. He gave a BLACK WOMAN (Malia Obama) her first writing credit and recruited a BLACK WOMAN to direct the majority of the episodes.

Doesn’t sound like somebody who hates black women to ME. Sounds like he’s actively keeping his promise.

On the subject of him dating white women because of the “Black women didn’t like me when I was young” bullshyt. Go ahead, criticize him for THAT because that rhetoric has always been lame and its always been an excuse in my opinion. If anyone criticized him for that then its valid.

But criticizing him for any depictions or characterizations in Swarm (and even Atlanta to a lessor extent) of black women is absolute bullshyt, as the series is CREATED and RAN by BLACK WOMEN

There are literally only SEVEN black women who serve as showrunners on mainstream American television, because of the ally-oop from Donald Glover Janine Nabers can count herself as one of those 7

Stefani Robinson was an unknown with ZERO credits to her name when Donald hired her to write for Atlanta. Her writing for Atlanta literally launched her career.

Its only “using” if its not mutually beneficial. Again, working with Donald Glover made Janine Nabers one of only SEVEN black woman show-runners in the industry. Working with Donald Glover made Stefani Robinson the ONLY Black Woman at the time to have a development deal with FX. Working with Donald Glover gave Malia Obama her FIRST television writing credit. He’s helping as much as he’s gaining and in the case of Swarm, black women are gaining the most
TALK YO shyt, DONALD! :damn:

The author of the hit piece is always talking shyt about black men.

She is a very ugly woman who wants all black women to take on a victim’s mentality because she personally has very low self esteem due to her looks. Instead of accepting that not everybody is a damn beauty queen, She’s made it her personal mission to go after all black men because she didn’t get the attention she thinks she deserves.

Danny Glover hates black women so much his co creator is a black woman, the star is a black woman and writing room has black women in it including Malia Obama.

I hate the root so much. It’s like the exact opposite of TLR. Bunch of miserable perpetual victims who live to hate on black men.
