... you gotta backtrack . You missed a legitimate classic . Shyt is literally like an underground cult classic that took on a life of its own when it was rumored the bootleg was gonna hit...

But it’s a classic, classic album .

Yep. Haven't kept up with J-Live in recent years (I know he's a school teacher) but the underground buzz surrounding The Best Part was incredible after he got dropped from Def Jam. With rumored production from DJ Premier and Pete Rock, this was like one of the most anticipated albums on SOHH back in '99, 2000 between that and Like Water For Chocolate. And his stage show was insane. He had a routine where he would perform Braggin' Writes and be on the turntables cutting up his record and beat juggling the beat..........while still rhyming to it at the same time :mindblown::mindblown::mindblown:

To this day I've never seen anything like it. I can't even imagine the amount of hours of practice it would take to perfect something like that.

The Dome Cracker remix of that track is my favorite J-Live song. Original version is ill, but the remix is just :whew:. DJ Spinna strikes again, proving why he's in my top 10 all time favorite producers list.

Man JLive literally epitomized hip hop in the human form ... don’t see how anyone could hate on him ... I still remember getting “The Best Part” bootleg ... :ahh:

And I remember you from SOHH... we were all anticipating the bootleg to drop ... what a time ...

J Live was unequivocal leader of an underground era, which in retrospect, was way overhyped and filled with alotta rappers who deserved to be there ... but JLive was unquestionably a rare talent who really never got his due and chance to transcend that.

Sho did a joint album in 1993 with Willie D and he was featured on Willie's 1994 album then he released an album in 1997

A Houston rapper, De' 1, also known as Kid Deleon, was an American rapper. He made his debut in 1993 on the song "Flow On (New Symphony)" from Lords of the Underground's album Here Come the Lords, and was signed to Reprise Records. That same year, he put out the single "16 with a Bullet", which was released with an accompanying music video. The following year, his second single "True Homies" was released with a mix produced by Scarface. That same year, a promo copy of De 1's debut album Day One was released. The album was never officially released, and De' 1 faded into obscurity without releasing any additional material. He commented on a youtube under 'KING COM' claiming that was him back n the day.

This guy was signed to Ruthless. Copped the cassette single just based off that and loved the song.

I bought this group whole album which was trash other than this song.
