Man JLive literally epitomized hip hop in the human form ... don’t see how anyone could hate on him ... I still remember getting “The Best Part” bootleg ... :ahh:

And I remember you from SOHH... we were all anticipating the bootleg to drop ... what a time ...

J Live was unequivocal leader of an underground era, which in retrospect, was way overhyped and filled with alotta rappers who deserved to be there ... but JLive was unquestionably a rare talent who really never got his due and chance to transcend that.

J Live got his due imo, he has a fanbase, and his name is going to come up when you talk about that scene. He's a less charismatic offshoot of Posdonous imo, so I never envisioned him having mainstream success. His first two albums were pretty good.

I fux with Pos but Live is on another level. Pos could NOT carry a solo . And I don’t think anyone really thought he’d have mainstream success , but 1. I would have liked for him to have a shot and 2. I would have liked for him to get some mainstream placement(s) at least ... but that was a different time .

If you could replicate that era today with him easily being the cream of that sub genre , he woulda get some placements right now ... I could see him doin a late night talk show performance ... hopefully one of these gaming designers who are students of the game , show him some love and feature his music on something . But yeah he had/has a strong following ... I have no doubt that he’s good in life . Period . I just still feel like musically , he wasn’t , hasn’t been heralded enough .

Outside of the Pos J Live stuff I understand what you are saying now. He would be a bigger artist if he came out now, he was the prince of underground rap for a few years. That first run of singles would have done crazy streaming numbers.
