I just wonder how big of a problem the double posting was. I never ran across that many in the arcadium

It wasn't a major problem. I thought the addon only merged identical posts and therefore would basically be unnoticed.

The merging of back to back posts was kind of interesting :ehh: I personally would rather read a single post, where someone either multiquotes or uses the edit button to add an additional thought rather than two separate posts. It's quicker to read a thread that way, far less scrolling. But I'm not sold of forcing that functionality. :ld:

I say force it on them...its better for the board in the long run (should keep it a little tighter I would think)

I think the effect on reading, while positive, is outweighed by the negative of responding to a double post where half the post has nothing to do with the other half. For instance you quote liquid about one point and then me about another point, when I respond I have to include your response to liquid. It makes following a conversation been two posters a little harder.

I don't feel too strongly either way tho. :yeshrug:

You could always erase the part that doesn't apply to you.

I think the use of the multiquote is better myself as well, but the execution just seems to be bad.

Yes I know I can erase part of the quote, but that is an extra step...and that extra step becomes cumbersome when I'm posting on my phone.

I don't hate it, but I really don't like it either. I voted it down. If there's a reasonable practical purpose that makes the boards run better or smoother, then by all means keep it. But to have it, just to have it, it's kind of annoying. Kills some of the dramatic effect.

if it is a separate post then it should stay that way.
it lets me know that time went by between the posters thoughts and that means something.

time and our perception of it is important.
