You have to start hitting these kids parents pockets. For every crime those kids commit their parents need to be fined at least 1,000 or more. Considering there’s a strong chance these kids are lower income that penalty would carry more weight than a jail sentence that ends up costing the citizens more.

This been a cultural practice in Philly since the 60s. I read old newspapers of teens doing this shyt. Overall this city need something for these kids to do.

No gyms no skating rinks or anything

Breh everytime I look up a playground turns into a parking lot, a gym gets shut down ala Covid, skating rinks are a thing of 1990s (kids don't want to bust their asses in front of a bytch), and all the summer/school programs getting gutted ala bullshyt.

Thus, this creates bored ass kids doing the absolute most because boredom.

Sure you can just focus on yours but your kids are sharing schools and neighborhoods with these hoodlums and these future prison inmates are applying peer pressure and influencing your kid or outright bullying your kid for being a "lame who only wants to study".

Not saying you’re wrong, but kids who act like this already generally tend to have nothing. Which is why they can’t empathize in the first place.

We really need programs to keep these kids busy in the summer. Let’s put money into these communities so that they have safe spaces to congregate.

Again, not saying i’m not down to fine the fukk outta parents. But I hope the money goes to something productive instead of lining the pockets of the local government.

Neither of yall are wrong in essence, especially when it comes to creating safe spaces and activities to keep em busy, but this is more than just a idle time issue, these kids have serious behavior issues. And u cant entirely blame the parents, when the system been looking for reasons to take our kids even before they started checking cacs for old school discipline methods.

Problem is juvie aint much better than prison. In the sense that it takes kids on the edge and pushes them over more often than not.

I think better funded and staffed behavioral modification residential treatment facilities and mental health services would be more helpful than juvie. That should really only be a last resort. And while in these institutions they could utilize these community rec centers for day trips/rewards for good behavior.

I like it, but it should never happen. Too many ways it could be abused by the system against us. Also, it would not be implemented fairly, nor take into consideration the different treatment of various ethnic groups in the US employment wise. Example, how Black Americans are last hired and first fired.

During this age, it's a rites of passage. Then the next stage is being able to goto jail and say you did it. A positive rites of passage for young Boys to become men is missing so the streets provide, point blank it's all peer pressure. Then you got the music and drugs and alcohol making their body chemistry all fukked up.
