I think I may need to apologize to hubby. He INSISTED we have hard wire only (except the door bell) cameras. 8 outside , 2 inside. I was mad as hell helping him do it because he had to go up in the attic and I had to pull wires etc and it was hot as hell.

He actually knew what he was doing.

i got a friend who puts his inside so he can watch his dog while he's away from home. Can actually give them commands and stuff too.
"hey! get off the couch! put down the shoe." type shyt. Seems quite handy for him. but other than that i don't see any reason to have them inside. you not a supermarket. don't need to catch shoplifters in the act, you can just assume any trespassers are stealing.

True I guess if I had a pet or a child like 12 or 13 who'd be home and I could check in on them since many schools are virtual but yeah beside that nah.

I just have one pointed right outside and it's basically because I have so many amazon packages coming to let me know if they have ever been stolen

This is the main problem right here and not just with cameras. People need to understand that these companies are not taking security seriously on these internet facing devices so when you connect one to your home, you are setting yourself up. If you have to have these devices on your network, isolate them from the rest of your network and only allow the connections that are necessary for it to function.

Yup and as well some people back these stuff up to the cloud which can easily be hacked as well.

I just have mine backed up to a sd card that i format every few weeks

All that isnt necessary. I had a hardwired system but switched to aRLO. Its works well and is way more secure than Ring.

Ring is full of white supremacists anyways. I do have a ring but i only have the doorbell. If the white supremacists want to curse out the amazon delivery guy they can be my guest.

for social homeowners who have a lot of people over it’s a must. Things can get damaged and you need to find the culprit or someone can sue you if they get hurt on your property due to negligence and you have video evidence that they didnt
