It details how blacks were placed in jails, at disproportionate rates to whites, and leased to private industries for free labor. Laws we're specifically put in place,after the civil war no less, that targeted blks in order to arrest them. (Sound familiar?)
It's very eye opening and sad but it helps make sense of why certain things are like they are.
I'm going to read the pseudo follow up, "New Jim Crow" next.

yep, this was actually the 1st thing that started my journey of KOS. It explained the relationship of fatherless guys & the reputation of 'he in jail' came from. This is why history is so important. Everything going on today is explained & you can see things clear & not fall for all that crap spewed by the media stats etc. of black people just being criminals.
