Cant come to the studio with pre created beats and trying to shoehorn mike or prince into them. You gotta create that beat and melody from scratch off of the brainstorming session

Sounds like he didnt wanna be put on the spot....i wonder why
This:dead:.

Imagine you being hyped up for decades just for your childhood idols to deem you unworthy of working with them:dead:.

That's some shyt that would make a hardened thug's chest burn:mjlol:

I like and respect Dre, but him turning down an opportunity to work with his “heroes” seems very suspicious. What’s the worst that can happen? They don’t like the song, so it doesn’t get released? It’s not like he’s a stranger to that scenario.
imagine walking into a studio with a dude like prince, he can play like 10 instruments and composes his own music while your best hits are samples

I get why he didn't want to work with him. Anyone who's ever produced would get it.

Dre has said forever that he likes to take untapped talent and built it up. His gift is in being able to build a foundation for new artists. Which is why he said he only likes working on an artist's first album, to get them started. There's two different kinds of producers. One will work with whomever just to be a part of a legend's legacy and catalogue.

And others who feel like these people are too legendary to touch and you don’t want to misdirect their vibe. Plenty of other producers have said the same. It's normal to not want to f*ck around with your heroes' catalogue, by adding your little two cents. That's mad respect.

Why does that seem suspicious? It's a lot of producers that have turned down working with people that they looke up to. It's HUMAN. Imagine working with someone you looked up to and you're the type of person that has this perfectionist mentality. I think Dre is on record saying "Billie Jean" is the best beat he's ever heard. You're making tracks and in your mind, it doesn't compare to "Billie Jean". You're working with Michael Jackson, but you don't like the pronounciation on a certain word. Are you going to spend two days on a song over one word when you're working with MICHAEL JACKSON.?

And Timbaland said the same thing. He talked about how he gets mire excited over a breaking a new artist than working with someone iconic.

Truth.

A lot of legendary producers would prefer not to work with their heroes. If someone has this crazy catalogue that you look up to, it's mad understandable that you might not want to mess with what you admire so much.
