And I think that's an unfair statement, if you are looking for 'classic' Dr. Dre he arguably died in 95, I mean even his production in the mid 90's had a more 'epic' feel. 2001 had remnants of that but he clearly went for much cleaner and much crisper version of the G-Funk and then modernized it from there. I mean I think Primo and RZA are the GOATs of all time over Dr. Dre, but fact of the matter is Dre, fits the modern sonic aesthetic so much better. Outside of DJ Quik, I can't think of a producer from the early 90's that is still active and is producing at such a high level.
1st off,rza nor primo have done what dre has done and i wouldnt even have them in front of kanye or neptunes, let alone dre whom is the goat.
2001 is NOT "a crisper g-funk" it's not g-funk at all.
And although i'd love another 1992 chronic, that's not my problem with this album. My problem is that everything is forgettable, from the beats, hooks to the verses. Where as dre's greater productions had unforgettable elements through and through. straight outta compton,nikkaz4life,no can do it better, the chronic, doggystyle and even a nice portion of 2001.
Yes the production is greatly mixed similar to a great concert or movie theater sound but the elements that happen to be mixed very well, are weak elements
