Contender for GOAT album. This album sounds so crisp. Dre’s mastering had reached its peak. Sonically I don’t think this album can be touched. Plus Dre brought that whole futuristic g funk sound that took over the early 2000s. So glad I own this on vinyl. I can write a book about this album but I’ll just leave it at that.

The D.O.C. was totally right in the interview, I think it was in 2008 or 2009 he said he don't see Dre gonna drop his album Detox cause the hell Dre gonna rap about in this hip-hop where the hip-hop pretty much changed.
IMO, I think The Game vs 50 Cent beef pretty much ruined the chance of Detox dropping.
Me too, I have a bunch of XXL,The Source, Vibe, Word Up! in my shoe boxes that I saved it for years then later on when I went to College and I threw them out

I was "interning" at a college radio station when my mentor got the F*ck You / Xxxplosive 12". I remember hearing it and was LEGIT blown away. Like someone said earlier, few times I knew the sh*t was certifiable classic from first listen.

I started reading The Source in 8th grade, 1994, and it was required reading monthly for me until probably mid-2000 or so. That "Bible of Hip-Hop" shyt was the truth for a long time. I can't believe there aren't more scans of them out there or an online archive or something

I remember hearing this shyt all over hot 97. Flex would play still dre like 100 times during his time slot. That and fukk you. I think I have a tape that I dubbed from 99 somewhere containing that shyt. Around the same time, flex was also about to drop the tunnel album with big kap. He was playing the eminem and dre "if I get locked up tonight" record. The fall and winter of 99 before y2k hit. Lol. Being hyped up playing rush 2 on n64.
Love this album especially Hittman stole the show
Hittman was on fire on that album. Ackrite never gets the praise it deserves. One of my fav songs of all time.
