I've met Umar and seen him speak multiple times. The first time he mentioned the school and everything he was gonna have there I instantly went from

to

sitting there. Either he never planned on opening the school or he was completely ignorant on the process. People are legit short changing how long he has been taking donations. People saying two years but he has been taking donations since at least 2012, it's just that people didn't start looking closer until the money got big plus no school had been produced. He could have opened two small schools by now if he genuinely wanted to save black boys or a dope online one for even cheaper if he wanted to reach around the world. The difference between donating to Umar and buying a Gucci shoe is that you already know where the money you gave Gucci is going..straight to the bank and they are gonna do whatever they want with it..shouldn't matter to you because you got your product which is the shoe..they never promised you anything beyond that. Umar is selling dreams of a school while taking people's money to fund the so called school..he hasn't even produced one legit document showing what funds are going where, who's handling the money, what plans are in order to secure a school. The NOI released full accounting info on all donations from the million man marches.
People who donated are owed that much and they really shouldn't have donated before asking for legit proof that he was trying to get a school and how he would maintain it. If the original school St Paul's had to close due to lack of funding, how is Umar gonna run it with less access to capital than St Paul? Everything has just been Umar talking and people taking it at face value. The funny thing that most people dont remember is he announced the school would start running out of some Fredrick Douglass center in Buffalo until they reached the goal but nothing ever came from that. Hell he doesn't even bring up the school on social media anymore, just strictly posting his lecture dates. He's a great speaker that put me on some game but he's pretty much the conscious version of a preacher at this point. All these youtube dudes talk about what they've done for the people but can't show you one tangible thing. Umar says he has saved some kids from special ed and that's about it, and once again that's just taking his word.
He's been talking about creating a parent association since 2013 (he even was taking up information from people in the crowds that wanted to join) but nothing has even happened with that yet. Otherwise the only thing he can brag about is how he is the most booked scholar which helps people how? The nail in the coffin for me was when he told Breakfast Club that it would be a private school that runs off the tuition charged to the students. The demographic that the school is supposedly for would never be able to pay a tuition that would have to be super high in order to attempt to operate the school.
