so I never played this game. any tips?

Take your time in the beginning of the game. Don't start playing this like devil may cry yet cause at beginning levels, a lot of shyt has the potential to one shot you or kill you in 2-3 hits. Usually run and gun style play is good. Save time having to heal your party by giving them items in advanced. They are really smart with healing themselves when they need to, as well as healing you. Don't feel restricted to one class, you can be anything you want at anytime, the game even encourages you to max out each skill set, from a fighter, to a long range bow shooter, to a mage.

My personal rule, no matter what, always have another magic caster in your party, even if you're playing with magic.

When you create your character, size affects quite a bit

Character Weight

There are several quest boards in the game, usually one per town. Check them out every time you go to a town and see take them all. Most are just "Kill X number of Y enemies" and for some you get quite a bit of gold.

If youre a mage get a melee pawn, if youre a strider/warrior get a mage pawn.

Never tried this cuz this is the first time Ive played online with this game, but if you have a friend who plays you can use their pawn for free, as opposed to having to pay for a pawn more powerful than you. That can make certain areas easier for you in the early game.

If you find an enemy is hard to kill and youre near a ledge, you can stun them and press R2 to grab them and then throw them off for an easy kill.

If youre a ranged class take advantage of the verticality of the game. Find the closest platform near you every battle and climb it to put space between you and the battle and control the field.

Dont worry about builds or min-maxing. Just play however you'd like and you can change your class freely if you have enough Discipline points, which is basically experience for your classes. Your pawn is affected by this as well.

Wolves hunt in packs.

If you wandering around at night, have your lantern on at all times cause the game becomes boarder line survival horror at night, especially deep in the forest. You don't wanna get caught lacking and get jumped by a Chimera when you're under leveled.

Where's a good place to get some decent weapons early on?

Once you get to gran soren thats where youll find weapons. Theres a basic vendor and an expensive vendor

There are a few quests that give 50k gold for killing easy enemies so if you want a powerful weapon do a those and get 150-200k in gold and buy a weapon from the Black Cat

Many people like lolis, my character is a little boy and my pawn is middle aged woman with a decent body

yeah my first character back on consoles was a demon child as well but Its weird seeing half the rift and towns covered with lolis. I want more pawns like the fat green midget named Sherk I favorited earlier. I even saw a fukking gabe newell pawn
