For the same reason anyone does: it just feels like we knew more of the truth back when tougher questions were asked. It's easier to know who lied, what the inner workings of some things are, even what some songs meant. Vlad might be morally bankrupt, but he gets people comfortable enough to talk without feeding people softball questions.


Personally, I don't really care where Drake does podcasts, but who he does podcasts and interviews with tells us so much about him than any question that's been asked. We've long run out of these places that can offer that. Not traditional media, not late night media, not newspapers, not these music channels who did shows like Behind The Music and stuff like that. All we have now are gossiping hip-hop podcasts and streamers who only have 2 objectives: run those views up and glaze you to death so you can come back and repeat the process.

I have zero issue with artists freezing out CTG type media figures who gleefully demean, disrespect, and devalue their art. I don't mean saying you don't like something. I'm talking about the way the Breakfast Club constantly interviews artists and says "I heard a couple songs on my drive into work." They aren't even listening to albums because they don't give a shyt about the albums. Just like they don't give a shyt about movies or books. They're focused on whatever the trending gossip about that person is. And the end result is that studios, labels, and publishers are now sending their artists to do fluff "interviews" online instead. That's why you always see actors/actresses doing that show where you play with puppies while talking about your movie. Or the hot wings show. Or you sit down with some fruity person who asks sexual questions that entertain women and gay men online. It's no longer about art or criticism or dialogue. It's about selling the product.

The losers are the audience as well as the real journalists. The audience gets fed slop and the real journalists die out.

I don’t know what “real journalist” means anymore. I’d rather drake just talk about music than trending topics at this point. Thats what I want to hear.

Anyone wanting him to be asked controversial topics is playing themselves. They won’t directly say it but they want the chance to yell at dude in his face and attack him via “tough questions” and call that “journalism”. Just keep writing hit pieces and articles if thats the case.

Interviews are nothing but promotion vehicles for entertainers…this expectation that random rappers “owe” anyone “hard hitting serious interviews” is ridiculous…they’re not politicians or CEO’s of publicly traded companies beholden to constituents or stakeholders…that artist of a certain level stop doing interviews speaks directly to that, they don’t need the promotion…Drake in particular doesn’t owe any of these outlets a look, he’s given them enough content already…random Drake obsession babble is like the cosmic background radiation of the rap media universe, there’s an entire secondary industry of muhfukkas engagement farming off whatever the Drake topic of the day is….thats what’s make somebody like Buddens having the nerve to say Drake isn’t “welcome on the pod” after spending untold hours babbling about Drake over the past decade building up his platform absolutely

people getting upset with this is funny. most interviews are typically safe and questions are sent to the artists before hand so they can create answers to match the brand so what tough questions are ever asked that people keep talking about. we saw clipse on a media tour and it was pretty sanitized until pusha got messy and started dissing travis and kanye. if hip-hop media wants to be taken seriously then do your work with integrity and stop dikk riding everyone.
