The thing is that a big single automatically puts your album around the top of the charts nowadays with these rules, which is a bad thing. It's the album chart, not the singles chart. One Dance might be big but that gives no indication about how big the rest of the album is.

the solution is to not look at the album chart. the album chart is irrelevant now

This whole 10 week #1 streak is off the strength of One Dance. Based on pure sales he only was #1 for 1 week... those streams and track sales made the album chart completely irrelevant
Dawg it's 2016. That's just the way business is done now. You can't compare the pre-iPhone era to this shyt man. You got tens of millions of legit music buyers who stopped buying CDs, stopped buying iTunes singles and only get their music through myriad $10 all you can eat streaming services, something unconscionable even 6 years ago. How else do you propose that the sales and popularity of music is measured in this new landscape?

i have the apple music app on my android phone because i ripped all my old cds and added them to itunes so i can listen to all my shyt from the apple music app...the thing is if i hit the search icon on the app it will go to trending search suggestion first...drake and other trending artist have an advantage...people who not even checking for them still have to see their name like an annoying popup and might stream they shyt out of curiosity...call it a rigged game or a cheat code...

I don't see it as a fault. Drake is last on the trending list right now behind the likes of 21 Savage and Lil Uzi. These are the artists/songs that people currently search for most, like Google suggestions, and "Trending" lets you click a link real quick rather than type it in. What's the issue? Ain't like Drake is some unknown herb and just mysteriously hangs on the list. He's the most popular artist out right now, and his songs are the music of spring/summer 2016.

Okay...but how much money being made of these "streams" ? Difference is...back then, it was actual album sales which equalled making tons of money. What is it now ? It allows you the title of #1 album, but don't get the loot that came with the title back then.

Wasn't there talk of .09 per 100 streams ? :mjlol:

Act like the same rules dont apply to everybody else :francis:

Outstream him other people :yeshrug:

Drake stans are low key retarded as fukk. :snoop:

It's not the same for everyone. If you take two equally popular artists, one on Apple and one on Tidal, it's impossible for the artist on Tidal to hit the same numbers. Due to the difference in the number of subscribers.

That alone makes counting streams wildly inaccurate. I guess this is the part where one of you brain trusts says "well, why don't they sign to Apple?"....because it would lead to a monopoly.

Fred.

Streaming just the wave nobody buys music no more same with TV nobody wants cable, nobody wants to buy DVDs. People want what they want, when they want it. So Billboard adapted the change people prefer to pay monthly subscription fees to access to everything instead just paying CDs one at a time hence why Drake is number 1 because he's the most steamed artist on Apple Music and Spotify plus the most listened to artist on Pardora. I don't think Tidal discloses it's streaming numbers. But it's just common sense why he's at the top. Times are changing pure sales don't mean as much no more:yeshrug:
