i get what youre saying tho, i know in rap, writing your own lyrics is a major key, someone big needs to just come out and say that drake can be considered a GOAT no more. royce aint big enough. it needs to be jay/ross/nas, or some other vet with some weight. i think as long as thats out there beyond just hippity hip hop heads on the net, then its all good, he can keep making his music and be seen as a diddy type artist who can produce great records made from the people around him.

Drake's impact from this will be felt in the long run.....He's opening up pandora's box with how he's playing the game using the pop approach of using songwriters to give him hits, songs, lyrics, etc. Expect more rappers to be using those tactics in the near future.

To play devil's advocate - and let me preface this by saying the hip hop purist in me definitely thinks Drake loses ratings for not writing everything, tho I still fux with his catalog of music

But in a music environment in which rap/hip hop is basically pop culture, and that the top mainstream rappers are competing with mega popstars for sales and visibility (like Beyonce, Rihanna, Adele, Sam Smith, etc etc), maybe applying the pop formula is the smartest thing to do to maximize the potential of your run
