wouldnt air play trend right with general interest ? If people are searching for the song less and less to play / stream , why would air play go up ? I dont look at those charts that detailed but I cant recall a song that this has happened to

Radio lags behind. They don't break songs anymore. They get sent songs but those songs have to become hits b4 they play them in regular rotation. Once they do you will see air play increase... even if streams are down. Radio is tricky bc it could be a hit in a certain market but barely played in another. Hence why you see some artists do promo runs.

It's the main reason why A Bar Song stays on the charts. It's getting spins on pop, county and urban stations in several markets so it never drops.
