Maybe in terms of non-hiphop fans...coz anybody that actually loves hiphop will realize that you should never, ever, ever in your whole life compare Jay-Z to a rapper that don't even write his own shyt. That's rule number one in hiphop and Drake broke it.

And I don't even mind Drake for what he is. But it's extra disrespectful to compare him to real emcees, whether it's Jay-Z or fukking Ja Rule.

Drake has penetrated markets that Jay never did, even in his prime. And i disagree that it was harder to be a star then...or at least to go 1 to 3x platinum. No telling what Drake would have sold in the late 90s, early 2000s. Im talking strictly from a popularity stand point.
Not much. He would've never got off the ground once Pac, Wu and everyone else got word he had a team of ghostwriters and used to act like a faq. And this is coming from a fan of his.

Oh, another nikka that's been known to use ghostwriters.

I see a pattern with you new nikkas :jbhmm:

Can we stop saying Kanye uses/used "ghostwriters".

Kanye outright uses writers, there's nothing "ghost" about them.

Drake uses ghostwriters, people who he signs and uses to write for him and mines their style, then are rarely if ever credited.

Kanye West actively invites rappers and artists to work on his music with him and doesn't shy away from giving them their credit.

Since Rhymefest got a Grammy for Jesus Walks the whole "ghostwriter" thing should have been deaded then and there.

I know to these new nikkas there's no difference, but there is and it shouldn't be so hard to discern.

People didn't like "singer" rappers back then so he probably would've flopped completely in the 90s , early 00s he woulda did nelly/ja rule numbers, followed by a rapid falloff after he got too old for the teenage girl audience like nelly and ja did.
