its not much, $0.006 - $0.0084 approx. for spotify. But look at this. 1500 streams at that rate = $9 = 1 album sale... it makes sense to me.

Itunes been around since '01 and was the #1 music retailer in the world as early as '08, which was the middle of 50's run.

Like I said Adele just did 3 mill first week and she refused to stream. So it's not impossible. People just ain't buying rap music like that any more. Back in the day rappers sold the most, by a large margin. Now it's pop stars. There will probably never be another Pac, Snoop, DMX, 50, Em, Wayne, etc. ever again dominating every genre, sales-wise. It is what it is.

I didn't explain myself correctly. I meant I don't know how much artists profit from streams not that the business model doesn't make sense.

The streaming stuff is silly to me because Adele just did 3 mill first week with no streams. Rap just ain't the dominant musical genre any more. It probably never will be again.
