It’s cheaper for UMG to invest in Kendrick than to have to continually renegotiate with Drake’s mega-contracts on every re-up. it would reveal that Kendrick would be given UMG sponsored exposure (Grammys, Super Bowl) in exchange for the promotion of NLU and its message.

similar to how NetFlix would rather spend the money to make Ozark, Love is Blind, etc. from scratch, than have to rely on the giant negotiation contracts it takes to carry Friends, Seinfeld, the Simpsons, etc.

UMG would stand to benefit from the marketing that their biggest expense is a PDF, to lower his standing / price heading into the boardroom.
