pretty sure ross wrote for more than trina, if he got enough ammo to do a whole song about his ghostwriting history. some of yall favorite rappers prolly got some writers in the wings writing more than just hooks, but keep thinkin its just drake :sas1:

I don't doubt it. Also lets not forget Ross was the originator of YOLO (according to drake himself) and was calling people his "woes" since Deeper Than Rap.

I followed drake from the beginning and was a legit fan but as time goes on I just see more & more proof that a lot of his shyt comes from someone else, in one way or another. He gets props for mastering his 48 laws of power (especially the one about getting others to do work for you while taking all the credit) and executing them exceptionally well but a "true artist" he is not. At this point I don't think his actual writing skills are any better than the average rapper you see posting on your Facebook feed. I don't think he's totally incapable of writing a verse on his own, but at the same time all of his best work comes from someone else's ideas. I can't even fukk with him like that anymore and that weed plate of a album he just dropped doesn't help:francis:

i feel that, but with that same info i look at him as more of Diddy style artist. a producer, like travis scott basically. diddy might be terrible at writing raps or working an SP-12, but he has the ability to find someone with some decent shyt and turn it into a hit.

nikkas act like drake sits in a empty room waiting for 100% finished songs to be bought to him

if thats the case, why aint QM blow up? or any of the other cats for that matter? especially early in drakes career when no one was fukkin with him? his ghostwriters then coulda just been like 'fukk u nikka im goin solo'.
cuz those reference tracks were cool, but they wasnt hits :manny:

(plenty of coli dudes in here will front and act like the reference tracks is better than the final product, which is complete :duck:)

its just easier and more fun to scapegoat drizzy, when after all this, all we really gotta do is remove him from the GOAT running and put him in the 'canadian diddy' category :manny: and keep it movin.

we on the same page about views tho:salute:

This is essentially how Drake operates as an artist, he gets a nice, well thought out framework, and then he picks up some crayons and colors it in:yeshrug:

If we're being honest, this exactly how most music is made.

Rap the only genre of music that expects the artist to be the a sole creator of the music they make. It's almost a suspension of belief type of scenario for most artists although there's always exceptions (i.e. J Cole)

Well to answer @bill blasky question, Chase N Cash has writers credits on Look What You've Done :pachaha:

yeah but that doesnt mean he wrote entire songs:francis:

and 'look what you've done' is probably one of the most personal songs in drakes catalog, drake aint sitting in the tents giving out endless personal anecdotes from 15 years ago to all these tent writing nikkas and then being like, ok make me proud! write me some flames about my relationship with my aunt from back when i was a teenager brehs. be sure to caputre how i felt that one night and if you need me to come back and give you move of my life story, just page me!

yall saw how kanye had 18 writers on All Day, a writer's credit can be for a WIDE range of a contribution to a song.

i saw something years back about a pop singer getting a writing credit on a single cuz she added in an adlib breh

chase n cashe is also a much better producer than a lyricist, so...:manny:

i just would be interested in hearing Cashe's take on the whole shyt, since hes been around drake since the early days, he prolly got to see how he worked before the tents and would prolly be able to give some more insight so we arent running around talkin in :duck: all day

I've lost alot of admiration for Drake as a creator....but those 6PM in NY, 30 for 30 style tracks he does would almost have to be written by him.

It'd be harder for someone else to write them about his life. And they always have kinda the same style

Just like everyone said it was impossible for someone to write Know Yourself because he was specifically talking about the "6" until the reference tracked dropped

Not really. All of the lines on the reference track were pretty generic. Similar situation with 10 bands.

In my opinion, that's one of the main reasons why the reference tracks had such little impact, outside of people who didn't like Drake anyway.

Now, if some reference tracks drop with some personal, deeply specific bars. Well...:dame:

Then I gotta re-assess. :francis:
