Drake has never been as musically talented as Kanye he just markets himself better as a pop artist. Even his verse on the cole track sounded like it was trying to channel ye, and it fell flat.

Even the recent kanye albums that no one really talks about anymore are far more intersting sonically than everything drake has been dropping since Views.
I didn’t say he was as talented musically but Drake is clearly a better rapper and creator of hooks. Thats skills Kanye can’t compare to which is why he exclusively employees writers and singers where as Drake can write his own and have help too.

I’d say at this point though, Drake in 15 years has caught up to Kanye catalog which is 20 years going

Sonically, the best of CLB, Her Loss, and even DLDT (which is fire as well) are better than Donda and all those leaked finished/unfinshed Kanye projects since 2020.

creator of hooks

At least he was. I can’t remember the last memorable drake hook :francis:

I gotta say….naw.

There is still nothing quite on the level of college dropout through Yeezus in drakes catalogue. I think drake’s best album might be the equivalent of a Graduation, maybe.

The pod mentioned this too and my response aloud was “what’s the last memorable hooks you even heard?”

This era isn’t predicated off hooks. This era is about getting a hot 4 or even 8 bar flow that everybody can sing in the club while drunk or high or use for an Instagram caption.

Whether people like it or not “21…can you do something for me” was just last year lol

Jumbotron was last year. TSU was two years ago. Pipe Down was as well. He can make hooks I legit just think he’s overextended himself. 5 projects in 3 years for someone with his fame/talent/run is INSANE lol

Maybe nostalgia is still heavy for people but given who Kanye is now ALOT of that music has aged bad. The peaks still resonate like I wonder through the wire etc but nah Kanye cringe self has morphed into something completely unrecognizable to what he was or promoted

Neither of them are worth any adoration outside their music

No it hasn't.

College dropout to MBDTF shyts on Drake's catalog as albums from a high height.
That isn't just exclusive to him either that is just an elite run of albums.

True but the perception is part of it. Whether intentional or not it’s apart how I personally enjoy the music.

Ignition remix is incredible but the creator is a pedo who pees on girls so I can’t bump it like I did when I was a kid who didn’t know better

Drake has weird moments and controversy too but listening to “Look What You’ve Done” still hits today. Take Care to me is as good as the best of Kanye SAVE for MBDTF which was a cheat code.

i also feel like drakes popular songs having so much petty subs in them age the hell out of them

Hard to really vibe with a song in 2023 when you sending shots at Tyga

Nah I think people really gloss over how good Take Care/NWTS/IYRTITL and Views was. Also think with how heavy people hated on Views only to come back around years later started the trend to think Drake underdelivers on his albums when really people have now given him unachieveable expectations. Likewise, you look at how Cole run has been as a rapper and after Forest Hills he hasn’t dropped anything better but nobody really buries his music. Kendrick dropped an average album with Mr morale and nobody goes as hard on him as they do Drake. Drake can be better but people also hold him to a different expectation than others whether that’s on him or fans.

But I do say he can be better than this project while also saying it isn’t that bad to people acting like it’s the worst he’s dropped. His worst is still his debut

Yeah he’s leaned too far into petty shyt for sure. The Serena diss, Megan subs, Esperanza RANDOM stray, and the tyga stuff like no you don’t even need them. Even the Pusha stuff is like unless you willing to go all the way after that man you can just move on but maybe he cant

I like Take Care and NWTS is actually my favorite album from him.
I also liked a lot of If Your Reading This but Views is still not a good album to me.

Cole's last album undoubtedly has his best rapping to date on it.

Tons of people shytted on Kendrick's last album.

Personally I liked it and it got a lot more burn from me than this album will get if I'm being real. But I can also understand why people wouldn't like it, a discernment that a lot of Drake stans don't seem to grasp around anyone who has something bad to say about his recent run of albums.

I don't believe there is any crazy expectations on him if anything he is doing that to himself by releasing a whole lot of mid with no breaks :yeshrug:

That backyard and setup got the taste and sensibilities only a dusthead from New Jersey who puts his paws on women could pull off
