While being signed to a white owned label, performing at a white event and putting more money into white people's pockets.. The same dude who had a song called "fukk your ethnicity" and said

"Racism is still alive
Yellow tape and colored lines
fukk that, look at that line
It's sold out first day
Getting off work
And they wanna see Kendrick"

:francis:

The same dude who preached Negus..yeah that fool. Actions speak louder then words breh.

:mjlol: @ so disingenuous

y'all got convienient amnesia now? Let's rewind it with Drakes take on Mike Brown.

"I've been trying each the youth so I can save them this year
fukk it, I guess I gotta wait til next year
And I heard someone say something that stuck with me a lot
About how we need protection from those protectin the block
Nobody looking out for nobody
Maybe we should try to help somebody or be somebody
Instead of bein somebody that make the news
So everybody can tweet about it
And then they start to RIP about it
And 4 weeks later nobody speaks about it
Damn I just had to say my piece about it"

Personally, I have nothing against Drake as an artist or a person, he kinda is what he is, the one issue he does have is that people question (myself included) is his authenticity. Drake makes songs either hyping up women or low key dissing them in a passive aggressive manner, then has the nerve to talk about how Black women are the most oppressed people in America, even though he has had a history of going through women like a revolving door. The fact of the matter is Drake has not been the most socially active celebrity and then the one moment where he does take a stand, he comes out with a somewhat generic message that doesn't even ask for a change to the system and the societal ills which bred these events but for a dialogue like WE haven't talked and protested until we're blue in the face. My thing has always been come all the way out or don't come at all. This sort of half-stepping is part of the reason we are in the bind we're in now.

And this isn't an issue I only have with Drake but a lot of Black celebrities, it's like they want to express an opinion but most won't come out all the way with it because it will hurt their pockets.

While I think celebrities speaking out it commendable I do not think it should be required and I don't think it's needed

I can't object to how someone feels they should address injustice or what specific injustice moves them to act

Try again I don't idolize rappers I'm a fan of Drake's music. This whole only white people and suburbanites like Drake shyt is comical the nikka is the most popular rapper among young black Americans making music in black genres but keep chatting and pushing your little corny ass agenda.

The letter does nothing for me, I respect he said something and that's that.
