Since ya'll like to cherry-pick tweets so much....:sas1::sas2:

Ya'll celebrated Views being a flop way too soon and clung to the words of some ain't shyt hipster critics. That album's about to ruin ya'll summer. :francis:

Let me explain how that works.

If you are stranded somewhere and all you have are MRE's to eat and never had them before. You get the meat loaf package and hate it. You taste like 10 others and don't like them either. Some time passes and you realize that the spaghetti one isn't that bad and the cheese omelette one has a poptart and skittles in it. You begin to warm up to it and look forward to the MRE'S (Meals Ready to Eat) but as soon as you aren't stranded anymore and taste regular food again you flash back to how soso the MRE was but at that time it will do.

When you see post like the ones you showed...that's people forcing themselves to like it bc it's popular and others are saying to like it. Just like songs on a radio...if you hear...say Tom's Dinner enough... you'll begin to sing parts of it and tolerate it even if you didn't care for it the 20 other times you heard it.

Real life example. These young bruhs where I'm at right now was chopping it up and one said "my girl playing the hell out of that Beyonce album. I put Drake on and she cut it off....said Drake album softer than Beyonce's." They laughed and started saying better drop some heat because the album is cool but a drop off. This girl chimed in andc said "i don't know why y'all keep saying this album is for women....nah it's for men who can't grow up and think we supposed to wait for them to".

His fans are really split over this album...for real....not just on the coli.

As these tweets suggest, many people initially disliked it and changed their minds. As is the case with many (or even all) Drake albums really. There is hardly a split anymore. Most of the information in this thread is pretty outdated.

And I stopped reading your little anecdote after "my girl playing the hell out of that Beyonce album..."

Beyonce stans no longer fukk with Drake after he outsold her in less than a week. :francis: I wish I was making this shyt up.

If you would have read it...you'd know that was a quote from someone else. My girl can't stand Beyonce and i don't stan any artist...probably bc i grew up in an era where you copped any artist you liked and kept it moving.

Those cats all fukk with Drake heavy...all of them. That's not Internet talk for retweets. They were split and it wasn't off of 1 listen. Same convo in the Barbershop Saturday where it was mixed reviews about the songs. I just listened to what was being said and didn't say a word. These post are my first post in this thread since it dropped and i gave it a few listens.
I don't care for the album but when they asked what i thought about it i told them it wasn't bad but i just didn't connect with it. I even gave one cat my flash drive with the album on it to listen to on his break since he hadn't listened hear past the 1st four tracks. I dj'd for a long time...I've played my share of shyt that i didn't like but knew the crowds did. I'm overly fair about music 99% of the time

Views is decidedly more mainstream than his other albums. He doesn't really rap a lot on this and unlike an album like Take Care, there actually isn't a lot of RnB either. It's a balanced mixture of many genres and if you're not open to that, the album can feel a bit underwhelming and disconcerting as you wait for the rap-heavy songs (if you're in to raps mostly) etc. And you keep mentioning the opinions of others who I'd be surprised to learn have very eclectic tastes in music.

I also think one's expectation of bangers (especially when listening to the album for the first time) interfers with their ability to accurately judge the songs on their own merits.

But it's like I said, the reaction to the album was very divisive when it first was first released but like most Drake albums, it seems that many are coming around. I'm sure he's lost some fans along the way, especially those who maybe only listen to Hot 97 or something, but he's also picked up a lot of fans along the way....something that I think was Drake's main priority with Views. He's looking beyond hip hop at this point.

This nikka sings way too much. The only people who can consider this a very good project are his stans or females

I'm listening to Beauty Behind the Madness and wasn't even into the Weeknd or anything til last year and that's a much better album than this.

And I'm from Toronto, the only songs I like are: Keep the Family Close, Hype, Weston Rd Flows, Still Here (my fav), Controlla, Grammys, PopStyle, View

How Drake’s Album Represents The Acceptance Of Mediocrity
Written by: Ziggiy

“All you gotta do is dumb it down. You dumb it down ‘cause it’s all there is out there. Nobody is shooting that “C.R.E.A.M.” or that bomb atomically or that Nas shyt. Or that Biggie shyt. It’s just strictly easy raps now. The club, your car, the bytches you fukking. It’s like four different things.”

-Ghostface Killah

Aubrey “Drake” Graham has it all at his disposal. After a $20 million dollar deal with Apple, Drake’s new album Views, will have been viewed audibly by over 200 million streams from the tech behemoths music app. This, along with digital purchases will include sales upwards of 1.5 million copies, making Drake the first rapper since his mentor Lil Wayne to push 1 million copies of an album in the first week. It is no secret that Drake has taken his tried and true formula of R&B infused crooning with boastful and triumphant bars, to great fame and fortune. He has packaged himself neatly into an instantly recognizable and accessible brand of pop music that can be enjoyed by the masses. Drake is that cup of instant Ramen Noodles that sits in the back of your cabinet, gathering dust until the day you realize you are overdrawn on your bank account and payday isn’t until the end of the week. It is available, instantly ready, easily digestible, and yet unfulfilling and unsatisfying, forgotten about almost moments after consumption. The thing about a formula is that once it is mastered it can quickly become old, the lack of new thoughts, ideas, or inclining, manifest as a desire for a new hypothesis. Is Drake capable of either improving upon his formula or creating new and improved ideas to express himself as an artist? For the man who has everything, including a collective of producers, engineers, and yes, writers, at his beck and call; can the cumulative of pawns keep the King atop his throne? If Views is any indication, the answer is no.

:heh: hexcac aka @hexagram23 is still in this thread i see, why do posters enter threads of artists they dont like continuously
That's what I don't get, there's nikkas that clearly hate Drake coming in here again and again to tell us how much they don't like it. If it's an artist I know I don't like I'm not even checking for their music and I ain't wasting my time making post after post about some shyt I don't like but 6 God got them all in their feelings :heh:

Seriously, how does this work? Who really has the time to repeatedly listen to an album to make themselves like it? Makes no sense to me. I don't think album is good at all, but I go back and listen to One Dance and Views becuz those are the two songs on the album I think are worth a damn. I tried to go back and listen to the album again and didn't make it pass 9.

To me, having to go back and listen to an album over and over again, simply means you're tryna force yourself to like it.
