The diss songs Kendrick dropped froze the world and it spread like wildfire. It’s just that the mainstream world caught wind of Drake getting his ass handed to him. That elevated everything to another level.

Exactly

Also add in the fact that Not Like Us is just simply a great song. Mustard made the perfect beat. Kendrick wrote the perfect verses. He dropped the song at the perfect time. He and Dave Free shot the perfect video.

The timing was just perfect .

It was more strategic than what Pusha did to him. It was a cakewalk, Drake was bound to lose.

fukk Cuniff but this is what I wanted to see. Sounds like the judge saying hold on playa, stay awhile and take this L.
:russ:

People rewrite history with ease but just about everyone remembers when NLU dropped and the immediate impact. I was hearing that shyt bumping from cars well into the fall. And it's post-SB revival seems to be the product of a new demographic of white people discovering the song for the first time. I still have Ether and No Vaseline as my favorites but it's clear that shyt is gonna go down as the most consequential and greatest diss of all time.

The very same night Twitter was fll of people putting the song on random clips of people dancing; instant impact

i have a theory on how this happened

and how really this was posed to happen years ago

but kendrick used both drake & umg to his advantage:sas2:

made an example out that man and used that shyt to catapult himself into uncharted territory and got paid like crazy

like i said before. its a reason why umg aint know about gnx til a couple hours before it was released

kenny the goat:blessed:

Kendrick is not some mastermind. He linked up with dre and iodine at interscope, the most unstoppable untouchable duo in the industry. Thats all he needed to do, he just got to make music

In federal courts, when someone files paperwork—like a lawsuit or a motion—they’re essentially promising the court that their claims are legit, supported by facts or law, and not just a waste of everyone’s time. But sometimes, one side might think the other side is playing games—maybe filing something just to annoy or delay, or making claims without any real basis.

That’s where a Rule 11 letter comes in. It’s basically a formal heads-up from one party to the other, saying, “Hey, we think what you filed isn’t appropriate, isn’t true, or lacks legal support.”

The person who filed the paperwork gets a chance (usually 21 days, called a “safe harbor”) to correct or withdraw the document without any penalties. But if they ignore the warning and don’t make any changes, the other side can ask the court to step in. The court might then hand out penalties, like fines or even disciplinary action against the lawyer or party involved.

In short, Drake’s team has nothing to prove botting and withdrew that claim to avoid sanctions from the Court. Eliminating that narrows the scope of discovery significantly. There’s now no claim that UMG artificially promoted Kendrick’s song illegally. The question just becomes whether or not Not Like Us constitutes defamation and I genuinely don’t think he can win on that. I’d lean towards the motion to dismiss being granted.

What Drake is withdrawing (we wont know if he will till april 16): paragraphs 127–130 that specifically alleged -
  • Whistleblower was paid $2500 by someone tied to Interscope to run streams.
  • That UMG+Interscope used fake Spotify streams to juice Not Like Us numbers.

Whats NOT being withdrawn (and still in the case) -
  • Accusations of pay for play radio payments in New York & elsewhere.
  • Alleged undisclosed payments to promoters & influencers to drive exposure.
  • Full deceptive business practices claim under GBL § 349.
  • Accuses UMG of misleading consumers, using payola and artificially inflating streams

You don’t have to do this. You aren’t being paid. You can just shut up and let shyt play out. I understand the arguments and even I’m doing that. This case isn’t even all that interesting from a legal standpoint aside from the fact that if Drake were to win on the merits and not through settlement - it would mean the end of competitive hip hop and would open the door for anything a rapper says about public figure - including politicians - to be used against them.

Anyone rooting for this dude to win this case is basically saying fukk hip hop.

And receiving corporate backed payola to promote diss tracks about pedophilia for favorable contract negotiations amongst white label executives is even less hip-hop.

and you’re right. Let’s let the courts settle it :ehh:
