When Drake released the track list for his highly anticipated VIEWS album earlier this week, one of the more notable inclusions was his smash 2015 “Hotline Bling.” The 20th and final track, the song’s presence on the album might have been a very strategic move. As previously reported, online streams count toward album sale counts. According to the RIAA “1,500 on-demand song streams in the United States [hold] the same value as 10 individual track sales or 1 full album sale.

This also applies to songs that are released as a single prior to the full album that they appear on. In July of 2015, Drizzy released “Hotline Bling” to much fan fare, and things went up another notch when he unveiled the music video, helping the track reach no. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. Thus far, the song has been streamed 400 million times on Spotify and 700 million times on YouTube. To put things into perspective, 400 million streams totals out to 267,000 albums sold. Furthermore, “One Dance” and “Pop Style,” two songs that also appear on VIEWS, have been streamed 67 million times and 17 million times on Spotify respectively.
Prior Streams For Drake’s Hotline Bling Will Count Towards Sales Figures For “VIEWS”

so this dude included hot line bling and got a 730k bump in his numbers :coffee:

Be unable to read and post an incorrect thread, bruhs :francis:

lmaoo just double checked and you right my numbers were wrong

Hotline bling previous streams makes up an even bigger portion of Drakes "album sales" 733k "album sales"

So that makes Drake look even worse

Drake not releasing this album beyond streaming platforms (no physical release) to avoid getting exposed.

you dumb fukk, you're linking a tweet that has a limit of 140 characters that says sales instead of album sale equivalents to save space

Further, the album’s overall equivalent album unit sum for the week could surpass 900,000. Sources at Republic Records say that Views earned over 630,000 equivalent units in its first day at Apple Music and iTunes combined.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week based on multi-metric consumption, which includes traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). The top 10 of the new May 21-dated Billboard 200 chart (where Drake could debut at No. 1) is scheduled to be revealed on Billboard’s websites on Sunday, May 8. (The May 14-dated list’s top 10 is still waiting in the wings, and it is expected Beyonce’s Lemonade will top the tally.)

I'm just sayin...I'm supposed to believe Drake is bigger than Prime Em/50? :comeon:

He's pretty much on that level man. His popularity at this very moment is up there with anyone in rap history tbh.

If this was 2003 Drake would either sell 10 million or have his career ended because of the ghostwriting thing. There'd be no in between.

If it did 630 first day how would that include the 733,000 of Hotline Bling? 730>630 so it should be starting at 730,000. The 630 figure might be separate.
because that number only included the streams off apple music

"Sources at Republic Records say that Views earned over 630,000 equivalent units in its first day at Apple Music and iTunes combined."

hotline bling's streams on apple music alone was 273k equivalent album units which contributed to the 630k total
