B is a rarity...but those Michael Jackson days of fans crying and falling out are ova...they can't even form pop boy bands anymore:usure:...Beyoncé has to trash her man publicly just to move units...

Beyoncé didn't trash her man on her last album and she had a stadium tour for that :francis:

In fact her lead off song was drunk in love, with her husband

This whole new system is retarded.

Couldn't they in theory pay someone to sit there and refresh all day or more likely code something to spike views
All of this is to trick the consumer. Once you can spot where the magician is hiding the rabbit, you've officially matured out of the magic show watching demographic.

When you realize the numbers are bullshyt, you realize the artists are bullshyt, therefore the genre itself is largely bullshyt, and it's time to move on.

being a super star is rare in general. You named another rare one in MJ. BIG artists are really big artists; there is no way around it.
But their are NO superstars today...Drake is to a degree...but no where near what say a Whitney was or prince even, but it's not solely his fault 1) our media today thrives off of the destruction of celebs 2) nothing is really new to the public today 3) entertainment sources are everywhere at low cost.....this all spells out the general devaluing of celebrities. There are Big Star talents out there...it's just not a great climate for them. What helps Beyoncé is that she's been relevant since a time where big stars where allowed ...the late 90's....but the struggle for new age big stars is real.

it's a shame - what was supposed to be a showcase set of months for Tidal has turned into a demonstration that exclusive Tidal releases will be a detriment to an artist.

Tidal went all out, released all of it's biggest, most relevant exclusive artists back to back, and look what happenned:

- Rihanna release disaster
- Kanye West not selling well. The excuse given here is Tidal - bad look for Tidal.
- Beyonce release being overshadowed and outperformed by Drake's. Excuse here, again is Tidal - bad look for Tidal.

all the while Drake is about to put up monster numbers on Apple Music...

think artists all over arent paying attention to this?

But she felt the need to do it now. all these memes and post that have girls sippin' tea and shyt...yea that's that lemonade homie, I don't know if it was an EP...a video movie or what...but it was meant to sell herself and it involved her airing her husband out (maybe fiction, we dunno:dame:)...filling stadiums is the plan, and a bunch of unclear dirty laundry is the bait...dem folks doin what they gotta:yeshrug:

I pretty much have moves on

I spend 99% of my work week listening to podcasts about movies, TV, sports and not listening to music

The real war here is the battle between the tech companies. Record companies are about to be phased out by tech companies like apple, tidal, spotify, amazon, et all. They are the ones that control distribution these days. I think its pretty much the reason there was a push by these tech companies to switch the rules up to include streaming.

Every major artist is gonna have an exclusive deal with an apple/amazon//tidal in the near future.

Formation tour has been on sale since she released the formation video, before last week no one even knew what the hell lemonade was about and the tour has almost been sold out way before that release last Saturday. You're wrong in this instance

Drake is the biggest rap artist of this generation. Eminem was bigger than 50 and Nelly at the time they came out. Nelly was extremely popular but he didn't completely dominate the rap game with the amount of hits Drake has. If this was 2000, and Drake had the popularity he has now, he'd easily go diamond.

I don't disagree he's the biggest artist of this generation by default, but that doesn't automatically put him on the level of popularity as the biggest artist of the last generation.....It justs mean artist who were as big as the artist of the last generation don't currently exist:mjcry:.

That's like saying Chris Brown is as big as Bobby Brown just because he's the biggest rnb/pop nikka at the moment....or Trey Songz is as big as R Kelly because he's the biggest rnb cat....That's not how it works:heh:

Todays era makes for a smarter consumer, and you got so much music at your disposal, you not forced to buy into Drake if you don't want to:manny:....We have the option to not buy into certain artist today, not only that a lot of older hiphop fans are deciding to just not participate at all and are walking away all together:mjcry:....I don't think you had that with the last era.

No...I'm not wrong in this instance, lemonade is a new album, I get what her formation tour is and how long it's been selling....one of my women friends is headed to Houston this week to attend ....but what you are saying is that "well she was selling without the jz gossip"....what I am saying is that Beyoncé isn't looking at the here and now she is looking at the future....and best way to keep selling for the future (or at least before the HBO special) was to speak on the "rigors" of her current marriage...to sell albums at the rate she's come to expect...yea formation will/has sell/sold out, but that's off of the hype of the SB performance and the hate she took...that was then, this is now...she's been paid for the formation tour already other than whatever she gets on the back end....her business mind was on what's next after formation...the lemonade shenanigans should be more than enough wave to ride on throughout 2016/beginning 2017

That post made no sense at all, idk in what world Drake's album is overshadowing Beyonce's. 'Lemonade' is EVERYWHERE and is being hailed as a masterpiece and 21st century pop culture moment... People are calling it her 'Thriller.' Drake's album is having nowhere near as much impact, padded sales or no... The reviews have been lackluster and so has the feedback from fans. You have to live in an OVO bubble to think otherwise.
